Post by mimylovesjapan »

just curious.
All the game system I ever seen from my famicom to my PS4 are all plastic base constructed.
Do you now if there was a game system in history has been made in metal ?

Well no, it was introduced last year and isn't sanctioned by Nintendo in any way. NES/Famicom clones are essentially legal anyway so it doesn't matter these days.

No, it's not official or anything.

I think the most expensive console that wasn't some sort of A/V combo unit (like the LaserActive) was the Neo Geo AES, and it was plastic too as far as I know. I guess you could count the LaserActive though, it looks metal to me.

It's just metal trim on a plastic case though. The only "official" consoles I can think of that used a metal base are the LaserActive PACs, some of the CD-i consoles, the Amiga CDTV and the Panasonic Q.

That was one of the first games I ever played, and most certainly the first shmup I ever played. My dad still had those old Ti carts after 30+ years, now it's the oldest original game from my childhood that I still own to this day :)

It's cheaper to make mass quantities of plastic rather than metal.
