Recommended LCD displays

I think there should be a thread on this.

Personally, I use an ASUS VG248QE for all HD things including consoles. It supports up to 144Hz. It has a very low response time, and I can't feel any input lag, even at 144Hz. It also scales lower resolutions without any lag, which really helps out with PS3 games. I read on an OSSC review that it has 3ms lag, which is more than acceptable IMO. What displays do the rest of you use/recommend?

No console supports 144Hz, why would you buy a 144Hz monitor with that in mind?

Surely there has to be some lag when upscaling a lower resolution source, it cant be completely free of any processing time?

I wouldnt reccomed a TN panel lke you have if you plan to vertically orient your monitor as they have pretty bad colour shift from what others have mentioned around here.

Also not sure what the OSSC has to do with monitors.....

"LCD Displays" is an extremely broad topic. Are you talking about PC monitors? For just PC games or mixed console usage or just consoles? Because that really changes things.

I will personally never buy another TN panel as long as I live. For my PC, if IPS FreeSync displays don't come down in price soon enough, I'm in it for the long haul and waiting to skip straight to an OLED panel.

I don't play consoles on a PC monitor though, I use my Sony W700B for that. It probably won't ever be replaced unless 4K TVs suddenly get good scaling support (so, never). I already have a CRT and a 480p plasma, guess I'll just add a 4th display for 4K stuff...

The BenQ XL2420G is the best LCD display I know of. Good luck getting one, though. Low lag, G sync support, and the ability to flicker the backlight with 60Hz input (consoles).

There is a double image artifact with strobe flicker and 60Hz inputs on LCD panels. You will not escape it with any current panel. But, it's minimal on the BenQ--and the blur busters utility helps.

Ghosting can be prevented, but you will need to reduce the brightness and sharpness of the image. You shouldn't put the display in your front room by large windows. Dialing back the brightness, sharpness, and contrast (as low as you can tolerate and still be happy) will also reduce the double vision artifact on moving objects.

With the price of the BenQ XL2420G, you are better off buying a Sony GDMFW900. It's also 24" and it's a 16:10 CRT. I recommend the GDMFW900 if you want one display that does a decent job across the board--with absolutely anything. No input lag, ghosting, or blur. 4k ready.

The HP 27xw fucking rocks, best 60Hz Full-HD IPS monitor I have ever seen/owned, but it's been discontinued and replaced with the 27es (I think) which cannot overclock to 75Hz if that matters to pc users, otherwise it should be just as good (check NCX's extended reviews on wecravegamestoo).

Still haven't tried the OSSC on it though.

Also no integrated speakers and to get VESA mounting holes you'll need an adapter bracket.

720p on the BenQ XL2420G is the same as the Vizio D50u: 1/10 ms.
