The Thing [Collectors Edition]
I have the original BR. Is this one that much better? I've always been pretty pleased w/ the transfer.

Re: The Thing [Collectors Edition]
Dunno but I liked the Target Mondo steelbook treatment. Unfortunately it sold out straight away.

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.
Re: The Thing [Collectors Edition]
Yes IMO it is absolutely worth upgrading.
There's more noticeable fine detail visible throughout the film now. I especially noticed this on closeups, for example the burned dog-Thing they examine after the kennel scene. Also in many of the darker shots throughout, such as exploring the interior of the Norwegian camp or when the men are outside in the dark and mainly lit by their flares they're holding - these scenes look more dimensional and pretty spectacular.
There is a slightly different color timing that's been applied too - in general a lot of the film looks just a tad cooler than before, although some of the red gory shots look more vividly red as well.
On just the transfer alone it was well worth upgrading to me, not to mention the plethora of new and old extra features.

Re: The Thing [Collectors Edition]
This Thing is on my 'to buy' list. During the last house move I have managed to misplace my copy of this Horror film and it is one of my top three favourites.
This edition has plenty of extras too. I tend to watch The Thing during the winter months
You film has a real sense of isolation and claustrophobia and to this day people are still debating if Niles was infected - brilliant film.

Its from Shout. You can't go wrong with their releases like ever. I'm going to pick it up at some point because well, somehow, I never have actually owned this.

I was gonna say, it's from Shout! Factory, so this release should be pretty good and be loaded with extras

I have the Japanese LD and this is how a cover should look in my book:

That's a groovy cover, indeed, but I think gives away way too much.
