Project GG

Post by epicnamebro »

What's up y'all,

My name's Marcus. I've lurked here on and off for years, but never made an account until now. So, hi!

I'll just get to the heart of the matter. I'm making a shmup, but I need help. The project I am working on is pretty unique amongst stg. It has two main modes, one of which allows people to spawn enemies in your game via irc... like from twitch chat. Really! Here's video of the prototype from today: https://www.twitch.tv/epicnamebro/v/94221422

It makes use of an energy system to limit player shots and boosting. Obviously not balanced or anything... Just a proof of concept.

I lack the confidence to produce a polished game from a programming perspective, so I'm looking for help. Elixir suggested that I post it here, so here I am! I am looking to make a commercial, for-sale title. I'd like to use this in supporting my family and pushing towards making more ambitious designs in the future. That's my goal. I need someone to partner with to make it right.

I hope there is some interest in this project. I guess I also forgot to mention a lot of other key things here , like color-coded procedural AI or critical dodges, etc., but there's a lot more to this project... but a lot of it is already working.

At the very least, I believe this to be different than any shmup in existence.

What platform and languages?

I'm not sure how much I'd be able to help etc. but more information is always useful. I do technical art shaders and particle effects as well as game programming (typically C# Unity but I've played with other platforms in the past)

MARCUSSSS!

JumpLust here. :D

I wish I could help, bro, but game programming is not my forte. It's cool finally seeing the project you've been working on, though, and I'm really looking forward to the end result! Keep on doing your thing, man!

I have connections to a studio that explored this irc-generated concept in the context of a run and gun game. It didn't get very far, but what a neat concept. Yours looks promising as well. Have you decided on a game engine or programming language that you will be using? That seems like it might be important to state up front if you are looking to bring an engineer on board.
