The HDMI NES will mount underneath the Super 8's motherboard in the final case design. To make room, the new case will be slightly taller.
In my HDMI test photo, I don't currently have the correct length cables so the HDMI NES is just hanging. It will use the same length FFC cables as the front loader kit. I did confirm that the HDMI NES works with the Super 8 bit and the interposer boards now fit beside the controller port PCB.

That sounds like a good idea. Would this mean you could potentially have an NESRGB mounted and HDMI NES both installed simultaneously?low_budget wrote:The HDMI NES will mount underneath the Super 8's motherboard in the final case design. To make room, the new case will be slightly taller.

Hi-def nes and nesrgb will not work together, sorry...vvs wrote:That sounds like a good idea. Re: Complete NES Super 8 Systems Available
As of now there are 5 Super 8 bit pre orders still available (9 sold.)
Hope to have the prototype case in hand before Oct. 21st.
Similar to the previous case, but in flat black powdercoat with white silkscreen.
Then finally I can show pictures of the completed system. Anyone can pre order then, if it doesn't sell out first......
As far as having HDMI and analog video capability from one Super 8 bit:
One option is to use the Super 8 bit with NESRGB installed and use an XRGB mini framemeister. This has slightly more lag than the HDMI NES kit, but it's pretty much unnoticeable.

I built the first complete Super 8 bit v3.2 system and took some pictures finally.

I will be ordering the rest of the custom design aluminum cases shortly and begin assembling Super 8 bits for everyone who pre ordered so far.

I was able to get composite video working in the H-Def NES installation. I made a composite video amp that solders to the Super 8 motherboard and works when no HDMI cable is connected.
I like having composite video as an option so i can hook the super 8 bit up to any TV and still have Zapper compatibility.

Re: Complete NES Super 8 Systems Available
I am considering making another run of Super 8 bit PCBs after not making any since 2016.
Would anyone be interested?
Unlike before, this will likely be a small production run of the bare PCBs, I don't plan on making the powder coated cases (unless there is a lot of demand.)
Send me a PM if you would like one, and if there is enough interest I will begin taking preorders.
