Stores that keep old stock forever are the best. I went to a general store in the absolute sticks once in 2010, they had an incredible selection of Dreamcast games, accessories and console packages, all new of course.

Responsible for the fantastic Bank Panic no less (which also got a very good MS port if it wasn't for the difficulty curve flaw).

Battle Zeque Den is really scarce and relatively unknown. Certainly not the best scrolling beat em up, but its quirks work in its favour, forcing you to play a game of strict economy which sadly boils down to using very little of your moveset. But it's challenging and pretty with some notable audio. Nice get!

Just like the first 8-Bit Sonic the Hedgehog part 2 is a unique game, different from the Mega Drive version, and with music by Yuzo Koshiro.

Tom & Jerry was developed by Sanritsu, a major Sega 2nd party dev.
That must have cost you a fortune as I tend to find that most of the time they over charge big time in Berlin and most of the time the condition is very poor for the shops in Berlin.

Did you really buy this from a shop in Berlin? I cannot think which one if you did :)

Yeah, I actually bought them in Berlin. Just a small camera store, they had a Game Gear in the window, so I went in and asked if he had more, and he dug out a beat-up box with Master System Games. Paid 10€ per Game.

I don't know how much those go online, but that sounds cheap.

He had a bunch of used SNES carts (decent stuff, like Zelda, Metroid, etc, but in crap condition), but said he needs to check what they're worth cuz he knows people are after SNES stuff, but I could have the Sega games for cheap, lol.

I guess they go for around 10-15€ used online, so 10€ for new copies is pretty good, yeah.

That is very good value.

So the annual book fair was here in Gothenburg this Thursday to Sunday. Went on Saturday, bought some stuff, mostly Swedish comics, but also:

Image

Jacques Tati DVD box, 11 discs with everything he's done - so six feature length films (some in multiple versions) and seven short films. Plus a little book with information about the man and his works. Only Tati film I've actually seen before is Playtime, which is absolutely fantastic, so I figured I should educate myself further on these classics.
My 1CCs so I can find the list easier myself

I definitely recommend it. One thing is that some roms in the No Intro set have the wrong header info. Sky Kid JP has both the wrong mapper (as with many Namco Games, the header lists mapper 4 (MMC3) instead of mapper 206 (Namco 106)) and mirroring listed. Holy Diver needs extra header info to run (extended iNES with a sub mapper of 3) due to having an odd mapper that is only used for two games with very different mapping schemes. Definitely recommend Nestopia for editing header info.

Another thing is that the FDS sound is off to the point where the NES Gyruss is actually recommended to play over the FDS version using this cart. There's also a hack available for Vs Excitebike to run on the Everdrive. While the FDS version is better, the Vs. system conversion doesn't play with ear piercing, off key sound on the Everdrive. Clu Clu Land and Ice Climber FDS don't have this issue since they seem to be direct conversions of the Vs. versions and make very little use of the expansion sound, if any.

Akumajou Densetsu and Gimmick sound great with custom mappers, though there's also a NTSC patch for the EU Gimmick to make it match the US prototype with other sounds replacing the expansion sound. Namco expansion sound isn't bad either, though I noticed some beeping in the background that doesn't happen on the real carts.

I got the custom mapper for Gimmick. Where can I get the custom mapper for CV III JP?

It's in the krikzz forums here. Funny thing is that Gimmick is the one with the link down in the forums. Unlike gimmick, the download has multiple versions set at different volumes, but the 75/70 one worked for me on the AV Famicom.

Depends on where you got it. Stone Age Gamer's labels are totally different than Krikzz's.

Finally found a Wii at a price I could stomach. Need to get a MotionPlus controller and component cables, but it did come with the classic controller and sensor bar.

Nice Saturn GET's!

@StriderNC

Did someone manage to change the case on that Bulk Slash? (cuz of the white tray; it actually comes with a transparent one)
All Bulk Slashes I've seen have the manual glued to the jewel case, which is SUPER FUCKING ANNOYING. :lol: And it's a complete mystery what was behind this baffling packaging decision.

@BIL

Not spent much time with Jikkyo yet, I'll be curious to hear if it is indeed a more leisurely experience that its arcade brethren. The production values certainly do not disappoint.

Whoever was behind the packaging applied something to the cover to make it shiny (I guess), and it breaks down over time making it sticky.

Bought this on a gaming event last weekend. Chrono Trigger has the original sealing but has been opened from the side so certainly not NIB (which is fine to me). Wasn't exactly cheap but keeping in mind how common the repros have gotten on eBay it felt much better buying a copy in person that I know is authentic. The same guy actually had a brand new CT but I didn't feel like spending all money I make in a month on a game that I'll never get to play. Castlevania was 800 SEK, equal to 93 USD which felt decent considering the risks of import charges and such when bought from non-EU countries.
Image

And no, nothing is sun-bleached. The picture was just so red I had to edit it in Gimp.

EDIT:

God I should probably pick it up before the price gets much higher. Likewise, the cover being stuck to the case in the original pressings makes me want to get the re-release.

I just went with the Satakore reissue of Bulk Slash too, haha. The line's red/white bordered covers are a bit deflating, and you only get a cheapo fold-out manual - but adhesives creep me out, man. :shock:

Game itself is fantastic regardless, ofc. Classic arcadey seek/destroy+ with perfectly realised 3D mech action. IIRC it was by CAProduction, same devs responsible for Hagane (SFC).

I'm a bit of a Gradius/co AC noob, so the difference might be a little lost on me - after Perikles gave it his blessing here, though, I had to finally grab a copy. :smile: Default difficulty feels very Gradius Gaiden-esque so far; not arcade-punishing, but definitely arcade-tight, and executed with the best of Konami's colourful mid-90s style.
