I finallly got around to getting my gbs 8200 i bought a year or so ago set up.
Im using the component outputs on my snes going into the 8200. I have it set to yuv as the input and the output set to 800 x 600.
On the vga output i have a MINI SLG. Its hooked up right theres only one way it goes.
It works good like this and i get good video on screen from my snes.
but when i hit the switch to turn on scanlines, it immediately loses the signal and says no signal.
Turn scanlines off, video comes back.
What is causing this? is the GBS set to the wrong resolution?
The TV is 1080. I have no idea how that is supposed to be converted to a vga resolution.
GBS-8200 PLUS mini SLG works BUT,

Re: GBS-8200 PLUS mini SLG works BUT,
First - you should set the GBS's output resolution to 640x480, this is the correct one.
Second - don't start with maxing out the scanlines darkness, because too strong can reduce the video signal's power in some cases.
Third - try to invert the polarity on the SLG (using the little DIP switches on the circuit board)
Fourth - make sure the AC adapter you're using to power the GBS is strong-enough, IIRC it should be at least 5V, 2A.

Re: GBS-8200 PLUS mini SLG works BUT,
I changed the resolution to 640 x 480 on the gbs but it didnt do anything the scanlines still cut out.
I do not see any dip switches on my scanline generator. I only have 1 switch on it to turn scanlines on or off.
Mabeye i have a different board from the mini SLG. Its been a long time since i bought it.
I got it off someone on an arcade forum.

Re: GBS-8200 PLUS mini SLG works BUT,
Oh yeah sorry this is me not reading correctly ha ha ^^, there are no switches nor adjustments on the Mini-SLG indeed.
- I don't recall if it's got a working direction but you could try to wire it the other way
- try different VGA cables
- try a slightly more powerful PSU for the GBS (2.5A, 3A, ..)
On the GBS settings side
- try increasing/decreasing the brightness, contrast, and RGB color levels
- press 'auto scan' after you've set the output to either 640x480 or 1024x768 (the latter is sometimes more compatible with displays, it's too high for good scanlines though)
- there are aslo the 'clamp' options which I've never used, there's a description at the end of the manual (to use with caution apparently)
TV side
- make sure your TV is on 'game' or 'pc' mode
Also
... Consider it's possible that the Mini-SLG won't work at all with your setup, it happens sometimes. The SLG3000 has potentiometers to control the RGB levels and switches for the polarity, which makes it likely to work with more displays.
Finally
I bet the component you're getting from the SNES was achieved through a mod or a transcoding cable, something like that, in this particular case I don't know how much the overall compatibility is affected.

Re: GBS-8200 PLUS mini SLG works BUT,
for some reason i cant adjust any of the Geometry settings on the GBS. why? it lets me select every option in the menu except that.
For the component Im using Viletims Nesrgb component board. It works good sofar in the SNES.
Id rather just use RGB, but i lost the Rgb cable for the GBS.

Re: GBS-8200 PLUS mini SLG works BUT,
@480p geometry option are typically locked, probably for compatibility reasons. But this is the resolution hardware scanlines generators are intended to work with.
Anyway I'm not confident the Mini-SLG will do, it's made for sitting in a video chain the user already knows will work fine with it in.
The SLG3000 is twice the price but more flexible and more 'universal', I'd advise getting one instead, the GBS-8220 being a bottom-end scaler board it doesn't feature enough settings to tweak the signal and make up for the lackings of the input & output devices.

Re: GBS-8200 PLUS mini SLG works BUT,
i found my scart to vga cable and I switched to using RGBS instead of component. I switched the input to rgbs in the menu.
My scanlines are working on rgb. looks like i dont need the slg3000.
