PS1 powers on but no video
So I have an original PS1 9001 that turns on but I am not getting any image nor does the laser assembly do anything. The power supply is good and the fuse doesn't appear to be blown. Any thoughts?

Re: PS1 powers on but no video
So I'm getting around 118v off the power supply and I am getting resistance from the fuse so it's not those. I am getting readings from the board but I'm not exactly sure what to look for there. It's also been mod chipped if that makes a difference. I would appreciate any thoughts or ideas you might have.

Errm, if the power supply is feeding 118v into the PS1, I'm quite honestly surprised that the whole thing hasn't gone up in flame...

Re: PS1 powers on but no video
118v would be Line voltage coming in from the wall outlet.
then the power supply converts that to low voltages like 5v and 9v.

Right, but if you're trying to validate that the power supply is working, checking the input voltage instead of the output voltage isn't very useful.

Yes, I meant 118V was the input power. How would I measure the output power on this? It uses a 5 pin berg style plug which is very small.

I've never worked on a PS1 before, but on that model, there appear to be vias around CN602 that should allow you to check the voltage coming off the pins.

Alright stupid question but how do you test a Vias?

Stick the tip of the multimeter probe in the hole?

Tried that and I'm not getting a reading.

Re: PS1 powers on but no video
do you have the multimeter turned on, and the knob turned to DC voltage?
you have to measure between the via you want to test, and ground.
also, are you sure your video cable is good? when they break, especially if its a cheap cable, sometimes they will just quit working completely with no signal.

Re: PS1 powers on but no video
Obviously I have the multimeter turned ON, and yes it's set to DC voltage. I will see if I can get anything from the via and ground.
Yes the video cable is good. Like I said earlier the laser assembly is not working as well. I seriously doubt that would prevent it from displaying a image.
