Thanks for reading and for your feedback in advance.. I am trying to connect consoles/PC that used HDMI to a BVM 32 and I would like to know if an HDFury2 would do the trick using the SDI input.. If that is not the most efficient way please let me know, I worry about picture quality loss, lag and adding artifacts in the picture.. Thanks

Blackmagic Design DOES make an inexpensive ($85) HDMI to SDI converter if you're interested in giving that a try.

I guess that I should had rephrase the original question saying something like what i the best way to connect a PC using VGA or HDMI and consoles using HDMI to a BVM 32"D.. then list the cards on the BVM and the devices that I have.. instead of going the SDI question way:)

I still would like to know what is the difference between the D and A BVM and which one you guys prefer and why... thanks

It's supposed to be HD Fury's last, most capable DAC. They're aiming for a early 2017 release.

For currently available consoles, any existing HD Fury will do, since none of them exceed 1080p60. And if you're using a BVM, that's all you need since BVM's aren't spec'd to go above 45khz

The D model always has a component/RGB board installed by default, so you can always get rid of the HD SDI board without rendering the monitor useless. The A model don't have a RGB board by default and the boards are extremely hard to find, so going HD-SDI is often times the only options on these models.

480p is basically not a thing with SDI. It had its own standard for it, which is not widely supported. The description of that one, for example, does not list 480p support. Even if you find an SDI converter that supports 480p, I don't think any PVM/BVM SDI boards support 480p.

I wouldn't recommend using a T connector to combine the horizontal and vertical sync signals from an RGBHV source. Instead I would suggest picking up an Extron RGB interface – I use a 203rxi with my 32" BVM and it converts the RGBHV signal to RGBS.

I think I tried a T connector at some point and it didn't work. These monitors are picky.

T-connector worked fine on my PVM's. Though if it doesn't work out, Extron RGB's are cheap.

@philexile... the 203rxi and looks good on RGB... T did not work on the BVM.. for HDMI consoles I have the HDFury2 in between.. I could not tell any difference between the 3Dfury and the HDFury2..

what do I need on the 203rxi on the jumpers and what can I turn off.. component vs RGB I can see the difference... thank you guys for your feedback and support:)

Your post is a little fragmented there... I guess composite sync worked from the Extron but not the T-connector?

As for jumper settings, you of course need composite sync ON for the BVM, then I'd leave all the others at default position, and make sure you have ADSP off because it converts interlaced to progressive (which will screw up 1080i by making it look like 540p).

Have you hooked up your PC yet?

Cool, you should load up CRU and add a 1440i resolution and see how it looks. Just create a 2560x1440 resolution with "CRT standard timings" then check the "interlaced" box.

That resolution would run at the same horizontal frequency as 720p, so I'm pretty sure the BVM would display it. It could look really good for PC games. I don't own a BVM so I can't try it myself.
