x68000 floppy drive repair

Post by Elrinth »

Hi!

So I recently got a x68000 from japan, and my floppy drive 1(second floppy drive) doesn't work... It just doesn't do anything... it spins up the big plate, but it doesn't move the read head thing. I can eject the diskette via the button.
What could be wrong?
Floppy #0 (first floppy drive) seems to be working just fine.

Change the caps, grease the rails.

ty... awaiting caps to arrive now... BRB in 1-2 months :)
Found two good guides here:
http://gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=x680 ... ver_repair
and
http://gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=x680 ... ive_issues

Oh and my floppy drive doesn't have the same capacitors... luckily! I actually had the ones which are on the floppy drive, so now I'm gonna replace them. however.. 0.47uF/50V ones I didn't have.

ok, so I removed all the caps and I measured them...

49.6uf(@200uF measure) where it's supposed to be 47uf 16V
11.3uf(@200uF measure) where it's supposed to be 10uf 16V
102.9(@200nF measure) where it's supposed to be 0.1uf 50V
51.5(@200uF measure) where it's supposed to be 47uf 16V
11.2(@200uF measure) where it's supposed to be 10uf 16V
11.0(@200uF measure) where it's supposed to be 10uf 16V
22.8(@200uF measure) where it's supposed to be 22uf 16V
0.446(@2uF measure) where it's supposed to be 0.47uf 50V
11.0(@200uF measure) where it's supposed to be 10uf 16V

Are these tolerable values? I already replaced all the 10uf ones and the 47uf ones. however my new 10uf ones read 9uf when I measure them, might this be a problem?
I'm kinda noob @ capacitors, so any help would be appreciated.

According to the guide there was supposed to be different caps than these. But my floppy drive looks a bit different than the ones in the guide aswell. I've got a X68000 Expert which obviously should be different from the ACE HD floppy.
