So I picked up the Sega 3D Classics Collection pack today for $30. It is worth it just for Power Drift alone. I swear this is one of the few games that it is worth in playing 3D.

Now I'm a Power Drift fan. :)

I was surprised that even the 3D in Puyo Puyo Tsuu was done nicely. I like that they used the AC since it's near identical to MD, but with an extra sound chip for better voices.

The collection was finally announced for EU. Had me worried for a while.

I'm not sure if this will happen in the west, but Japan just got an eShop release of 3D Puyo Puyo 2.

Third volume of Sega 3D archives coming in december.

Apparently they haven't announced any games for it yet?

Don't worry about it. You can travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda and back 1500 times before the sun explodes.

Crossing my fingers a second volume makes its way to North America. I picked up the first about a month ago and it is awesome.

Good selection. Too bad it's apparently going to be the last one.

Strange choice with the racing games if Turbo Outrun plays anything like it sounds in its synopsis - exactly like Super Hang-On...

Got the last collection for Fantasy Zone II W

Going to get this one if it becomes available just for Sonic 2!

I think I'm the only one who loves playing the 3DS in 3D
If it wasn't for the 3D I would pass on this collection.

Lets hope it comes to North America

I hope it comes to NA too. I hope the 3 games actually turn out to be the three other games top games that were voted on. VR is definitely deserving of a new port.

Edit: Scratch that, Outrunners may be a bit much since Turbo Outrun is already in it. Then again, I would like to see a better home version.

I play in 3D most of the time too. Sure it's kinda clunky, but I love the visual depth it creates.
Would be the collections even without 3D because there's lots of game son each of them I've never played before. And because I'm strange and prefer to play games I've spent money on. :?

Awesome. I was hoping they'd do one of these. Though I expected them to do Thunderforce IV if they do any of the games.

The final collection and triple-pack came out in Japan today. Here's what's present in the final package:

After Burner II
Alien Syndrome
Champion Boxing (unlocks with save data from Archives 1)
Columns
Girls Garden (unlocks with save data from Archives 2)
Gunstar Heroes
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Streets of Rage II
Super Hang-On
Thunder Force III
Turbo Outrun

TFIII has the Kids Mode from the Saturn port but is otherwise unchanged. (You can choose between the JP/US version, as per usual; I think the Saturn port was derived from the US version?)

They also released a book called Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives MANIAX which collates the behind-the-scenes interviews they did for the website Game Watch and includes a few new ones that include people who worked on the original games (Yu Suzuki, guys who worked on Alien Syndrome and Thunder Force, etc).

What's the difference between the JP and US Thunderforce III, aside from "Tecno Soft" and "Technosoft"? Both are on the US and JP carts.

Edit: Found my answer here.
Enemies in the US version are slightly less resilient, making the game somewhat easier.

Got the triple pack in the mail today. I played TFIII and Sonic 2 for a little bit and everything seems good.

I'm not really sure where to start with all these games, though. It's like a dozen childhood Christmas hauls at once.

Missed this the first time I saw this post. Very nice! This doesn't appear to be a title that gets re-released too often.

I suppose a North American release is out of the question?
