GameCube games that erase savestates of other region games
Is there any list of GameCube games that format memory card whenever they find savestates from other regions available? Is Kururin Squash! one of these?

The gamecube will format memory cards to the console region, not the game disc region. The exception to the rule is that PAL / NTSC can be put on the same card but not Japanese games, they are in a slightly different format so need their own region card.

Is it still an issue when booting games via Nintendont on the Wii?

Nintendont supports virtual memory cards. So the safest way may be to take out your physical card when playing Japanese games and use the virtual function, then disable it and use your standard memory card for everything else
If you can wait a couple of hours i can test it on nintendont for you with the vm?

Thanks, but I intend to purchase another 128 MB third-party card (pretty cheap at this point) and experiment with it - seems like the only way to make sure.

Fair enough, be nice to know definitively as most of the info out there is pretty fuzzy and I don't dare risk my f-zero gx save file to find out!
