March 2005 Tips & Tricks has GCN Chaos Field codes...

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

On February 20th, 2006, my establishment had gotten the latest issue of the March 2005 Tips & Tricks with Action Replay codes for the O3 release of the USA region version of Chaos Field Expanded shmup.

There are four Action Replay codes for the USA Gamecube version of Chaos Field found on page 96 of the March 2006 issue of Tips & Tricks:

Chaos Field:

{M} Must Be Turned On
0801-4FFN-YV11Q + DV1M-PW07-BUJ51

Infinite Health
DFRE-HB7E-2V49D + NJTK-35GM-649B6

Infinite Credits
G11X-16MY-TW7Q4 + 8RQW-ACAX-5BT0Q

Fourth Code isn't really that important & isn't listed here.

I've entered them in today (2-22-06 Wednesday) on my USA region Gamecube using the latest version labelled "1.41v USA Action Replay" cheat device and can confirm that the above listed codes do indeed work 100% without failure. ^_~

I've tried both the Hori Gameboy Player controller and the Hori Fighting Stick/Cube on the USA version of Chaos Field Expanded and they do play much better with either controller than with just a standard Gamecube controller.

First party & third party joystick controller support for the USA region Gamecube console platform is really not available in terms of giving the "arcade game player" a good solid game controller...of course, there are 3rd-party GCN controller adapters but still have a bit of "lag-time" in responsiveness and no "true" digital controller option support (i.e -- if you wanted to use a Hori Fighting Stick PS with said 3rd-party GCN controller adapter, it wouldn't register UNLESS the joystick controller was one that had "analog" joystick functionality which would be the Interact Shadow Blade Arcade Stick for the PSX/PSOne/PS2 has both the "analog & digital" joystick functionality -- only works in "analog" joystick mode on the CGN console).

Of course, one can import a good solid Japanese arcade ball-type short throw joystick controller like the limited edition Hori GCN Soul Calibur II Fighting Stick and the 2nd generation purple-colored Hori Fighting Stick/Cube controllers (which are really the only commercially-available type of joysticks for that respective game console platform). If one really wanted to go "hard-core" with pulling out the stock Hori joystick/push buttons and replace them with genuine Sanwa or Seimitsu joystick/push buttons parts setup, then it would be 100% Japanese arcade-spec arcade controls.

Oxtsu here on the Shmups.com forum is "Da Man" to PM if you want genuine Japanese Sanwa or Seimitsu arcade parts. ^_~

It's too bad that the Japanese Hori Fighting/Cube joystick isn't sold in the USA as it is a very solid joystick for those Gamecube games that have built-in digital control support like the USA versions of Ikaruga & Chaos Field shmup titles do.
