Hey everyone,
I recently picked up a PVM 8042Q, which is the first PVM I have ever owned. I bought cables to plug my Super Famicom into, but when I turn the tv on I get no picture whatsoever. The tv "clicks" when turned on but nothing else. Is the tv broken or is there something that I may not have set properly?
Thanks,
Jordan

Try being more specific. Which cables did you buy? Have you tried switching the PVM to accept different inputs?

Ok, I bought a euro scart cable for the super famicom, and a euro scart to bnc adaptor to plug into the system. I unfortunately do not have any other cabling that can be plugged into the pvm. I will post a picture of the back of the pvm with everything plugged in. I can't seem to get to a menu either, but I am honestly unsure on how to get to it

IIRC the small Sonys require a clean sync signal, so you cannot simply use a passive adapter to connect a Scart RGB source. Did you try any standard composite video source instead ?

That is a bummer if that is the case. I don't have a way to connect any composite cables to it since nothing else I have has a bnc connector. Here is a picture of the tv (turned on) and everything hooked up in the back.

Re: PVM 8042Q No Picture
yeah, I'm pretty sure. I think I had the identical one at some point.
What adapter do you have ? Scart to BNC ? If you disconnect everything except the sync line and connect this one to the composite video input it should work with most sources (that use composite video as RGB sync). Here it will depend on your SFC's RGB cable. These are available in three configs (composite video for sync, luma and c-sync).
Is the adapter confirmed working ? These are on directional, so a BNC to Scart adapter isn't the same as a Scart to BNC one.

Here is the cabling I purchased:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/201284360714?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Female-RGB-Euro ... XQAEFSD-4B
Something strange just happened, for the first time turning on the tv I could see something on the screen and I could adjust the brightness to a point I could see it. But it just lasted a minute or so and the picture went out again. Power issue possibly?
