A lot of them aren't too bad. Ninja Gaiden as I mentioned, I picked up for around $20 just last year. I think some of the Asterix games are exclusive to PAL as well, all of those are extremely common to come by. The ports from Game Gear titles usually aren't worth wasting time on.

oops i'm getting confused myself
As I recall no PS1 games support 60hz.
I remember when the original Wipeout came out on Euro Launch there was an article in Edge about Psygnosis (Sony Liverpool) putting the USA edition on the disc as well, since the program data took very little of the disc and would fit. But Sony decided not to let them do it.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

I suggest building a list of PAL exclusive recommendations into the first post. My pick for a PAL game worth getting, if you're into first person RPGs like the King's Field games, is The Note. There's a JP version too, of course, but if you want to play it in English you have to dunk your head into the PAL pool.

Yeah, true PAL exclusives are rare, but when the game requires at least some understanding of the text, and the English language version is PAL exclusive, that definitely counts for most people. Again Terranigma is the obvious example (though it's not exactly the masterpiece some people tend to make it out to be)

Hey, this is all new to me but now I know.Fudoh wrote:that was the pointI don't see the link.As stated above, no 60Hz support on any PAL PS1 game. This was introduced on the PS2.
Anyways I believe my HDTV supports 50Hz as I get a picture in 50Hz mode on the Framemeister. Soooo.....I guess I'm good then with PAL games??? If so then is there a list out there with optimized PAL PS1 games?

Yeah there are only a few PAL exclusives worth getting. Another problem I've found is that most PAL games have different language versions and finding the UK English version can be hard to find.Sumez wrote:Yeah, true PAL exclusives are rare, but when the game requires at least some understanding of the text, and the English language version is PAL exclusive, that definitely counts for most people. Re: Best way to play import games?
Oh damn yeah! It's been a problem here every since I started bying used games!
One of my copies of Lost Vikings and my Darkwing Duck are in German. Lion King for MegaDrive has the German title on the cover (though the game is in English), and just about EVERY copy of that game that I've ever seen for sale here had the German cover, I suppose that's just what were sold here.
Finding an English Terranigma was a pure treasure hunt! I found out that there wasn't any Italian version so I bought the game CIB cheap from an Italian seller hoping it would be in English, and it worked out! For Lufia 2 (which is just called Lufia in Europe) I just gave up and bought the American version, which I think ended up being cheaper anyway. A boxed English Lufia 2 is nearly impossible to find.
