Can't get enough of Princess Reco? Have a garage kit.

(please note that pages on this site beyond this one are NOT WORK SAFE)

This is a new garage kit made available at 2006 Winter Wonder Festival - basically a 3D rendition of the soundtrack CD cover image.

Thankfully someone I know managed to snag this one for my kit collection! :D I've got a whole ton of kits (enough for me to work on for the next 2 or 3 years...) but as far as shooter characters go, I've got a (somewhat dignified) Koyori, a Marion, a Load Ran, and now Reco.

Now if only I could find one of those Silver Hawk kits on Yahoo!Japan for something less than $200...

Have you assembled/painted any garage kits before? Do you have pics of any completed kits? I'd be really interested to see them!

I'm just getting back into figure collecting after about 5 years. Got nothing at the moment. I just wish there were more shmup characters available to buy. I have the SNS ones and Reko from the game soundtrack. The goodsmile company models are amazing - really well done.

Garage kits are too much for me as my artistic abilities are zero, I'd never give them the paint job they deserve - especially Reko.

Nice kits BTW.

Is that some sort of Faberge egg holder in the background?

It's an egg music box. I took pictures of Erica on the dining room table :)

There's a decent amount of shooter-related garage kits... not as much as mech anime/manga or H-games (of course), but what's out there is pretty cool.

Here's the Silver Hawk I've wanted that doesn't seem to dip below 20,000 yen on Y!J:

Some more nifty Darius stuff from Wonder Festival summer 2K5:

I would have bought all of these if I had more cash to spare :(

Something amusing for real old-skoolers:

Overilluminated R-Type stuff:

I would have so loved to attend Wonderfest Winter 2006, but I was in Japan over Christmas/New Years, and WF was this weekend :\ Oh well, at least I made Comiket and got this beauty:

Anou... the "Gradius" diorama is apparently supposed to be from Salamander (Life Force???). Least that's what it says in the background.

Although Salamander is kind of a Gradius game anyway.

Insanely jealous of this! That is unbelievably cool.

Btw, I think that R-Type model might be the same one you can pre-order
from HobbyFan right now:

I'd love to pick this one up myself, but I have no experience with garage
kits so I know I wouldn't be able to do it justice. I wish there was an
option to pay extra for pre-painted/assembled kits. ;P

Shipping is hell, but if you do a search on Yahoo Japan you can find assembled and painted kits pretty regularly.

Anyone wanna loan me $150?

There's a bunch of Touhoku characters up for grabs as well.

EDIT: http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/83957956

Another Gradius V Vic Viper from a different sculptor!

Also, I wouldn't expect to see anyone selling finished Reco kits anytime soon. If they do, prepare to spend in the area of $400+ for it...
