I recently received the gscartsw 8x1 JP21 switch. I have been unable to get it to work with my XRGB Mini. I've tried connecting it using a JP21 to 8 pin mini din cable (no audio or video), and a male-to-male JP21 cable using the Micomsoft supplied mini din adapter (audio, but no video). To rule out the mini din adapter, I connected the 8x1 switch to my Selecty21. Same deal - audio, but no video.
I know that all of my console cables are good to go, as they all work without issue when run through the Selecty21. I think that the 8x1 JP21 switch is good due to receiving audio with one of the cables and verifying that I can get video when using the VGA out (Dreamcast / Monoprice VGA to HDMI converter).
Are the cables the issue? Getting audio, but no video with the male-to-male JP21 cable makes it appear that the cable isn't wired correctly. I'm not a cable maker and don't claim to be even remotely knowledgable. I just know that I've no issues with other cables from this supplier.
Any ideas?

Re: RGB Switch and Cables Question
Does the gscartsw actualy use a female JP21 output ? That's a first right ? Or can you think of anything else ever used a JP21 output ?
If you get audio, but no video on the FM it usually means that a ground connection somewhere is missing. If you get no audio either, then the pinout is simply screwed up.
Did superg post a pinout of the JP21 output at some point ? Can you check the pinout of your cables ? Sync out on the female JP21 connector should pin 10. To be on the safe side you need ground in pins 7, 8 and 14.
Did you pay attention to the direction of your JP21 to JP21 cable ? Unless it's doubled wired, it only works in one direction.

As usual, you're right on the money. Both ends were labeled "JP21 to JP21". I disconnected and flipped the cable. Viola. Audio and video. From all seven consoles. Thank you so much.Fudoh wrote:Did you pay attention to the direction of your JP21 to JP21 cable ? Unless it's doubled wired, it only works in one direction.
