VP20 (no abt102) + OSSC combo viable?

Post by Einhandr »

Hey guys, first time poster here. I saw in a thread elsewhere that a vp30 without an abt102 and the OSSC in line double mode for 240p content would output around 6ms of lag. I'm assuming the same would be true of the vp20 without abt102? I wanted to check with the experts first to see if I would be ok to add the OSSC to my current setup as it is now, or if I would need to update my upscaler as well. I mostly use it for 240p content (but that could always change in the future).

Editing for more clarity. The info was that the vp30 handles 480p content at 6ms.

Not an expert so you might want to keep waiting for those, but the VP20 is just a budget VP30 with some ports removed. It should perform identically to the VP30.

Yes. The vp20 and vp30 can do it.

The vp20 has no vga input.
We apologise for the inconvenience

The vp20 has no vga input.
So ideally for 240p systems:
Console -> RGB SCART -> OSSC in line double/triple mode -> DVI/HDMI -> vp20 -> HDMI -> display

My setup as it is right now is:
Console -> RGB SCART -> vp20 -> HDMI/DVI -> HD Fury 1 -> minislg -> VGA -> display

I would be able to cut out the HD Fury and minislg and remove the need to use VGA to my display and instead use HDMI.

The lack of VGA on the vp20 would also be solved by using the VGA in on the OSSC with it before the vp20 in the chain correct?
