Jail Bars on RGB Modded PAL N64

Post by ramunegaming »

Hi guys, I am currently having an issue with my RGB modded n64. I have these horrible jailbar effect which ruins the point of having the console modded, I was wondering if anyone here could help me eliminate the issue? My Setup is:

N64 -> Framemister via SYNC on luma cable -> HDMI Out to capture card (X-capture 1) -> PC via 3.0 //// (As a side note even plugged direct into my monitor from console I get jailbars)

Example: http://i.imgur.com/lGNgi7T.png

Things I have tried:

- Direct to monitor bypassing framemiester & capture card (2 monitors should I add)
- 2 RGB cables 1 with sync on luma and 1 without

I am thinking it's an issue with the signal before it gets to the end of the pipeline so either cable issue or mod is not installed correctly (oh should mention I did not mod the console myself I have been told it's is installed correctly) Someone mentioned the Sync Strike might do the trick but thought I would consult you guys here first. Thank you for your time :D

I've seen that several times. You have a chance to get rid of them if you replace the caps inside the power supply unit. Be careful there if you decided to do so!!!

The wires from the analog RGB output may be too close to the ribbon cable with the digital video data. They must be kept apart. Sometimes installers tie them together for neatness purposes without thinking of the consequences.

That's exactly what I see when turning off anti-aliasing with Gameshark on some games. Any idea what could be causing that? Is it solely the missing dither filter?

I replaced the PSU with a brand new PSU and still have the jail bars. It's frustrating as I was hoping to use it soon for a charity event. Anyone else got any ideas?

I will make a new topic for this but want to ask here also.

Ok after a kind mate of mine let me borrow a tv of his which has HDMI and Scart inputs I have discovered that the issue stems from my framemeister, because if I plug the scart directly to tv it's fine but if I plug the scart into the framemeister and hdmi to tv I get the jail bars. So my question has changed to this does anyone know why the framemeister is introducing jailbars to the RGB modded N64 while it can do gamecube, playstation, genesis RGB perfectly fine?
