Thank you. X was a peerler bead project i had comissioned during an anime convention. My gf is a fan of zero so when i go back this year i was going to see if he would be able to create a mirrored one about the same size.

I find it difficult to play shmups on really large screens, I can't seem to focus the same way. I've had a few decent projector runs (which are wall-sized) but all the best work happened on medium/large CRT's.

Where most of the gaming happens. There's a JP PS2, Xbox, Dreamcast and a Core Grafx there. There's also a RGB SCART switcher (remote), the cable TV box, and a DVD recorder. TV has dolby in it, the speakers are scattered around the room. Aside from the Core, everything there is RGB SCART.

There are a few pinball machines in here too. Two are fully restored, the third is my current project - some artwork touchups are currently drying.

Image

There's another pinball machine in the other corner, again a full restoration. This one was full of straw and birdcrap when I got it.

Image

In the computer room/games room, there are yet more pinball machines. The one on the right was a huge restoration job, and had been kept in a damp storage place for years before I got it. It took many weeks of hard work.

Image

Sometimes, consoles and emulation are not good enough ;-) Whole top section opens like a car bonnet (hood), screen spins on a wooden wheel, really easy to rotate. The Punisher is a very fun game.

Image
Lots of pinball! I bet you have a really noisy house.
I've always been drop dead bad at pinball, despite growing up in the time frame, when they were quite common.

Added some equipment. Took some controllers out of the pic, so everything didn't look so messy.

Where else am I supposed to put the CRT and PS4?

EDIT: Actually, I just pushed my computer tower to the left and my SNES to the back and right and now I can sit properly.

Wow, last time I posted in this thread was over 11years ago! :/

This is my current and pretty much final set-up I reckon. Hacked IKEA unit under the main livingroom LED to house my Sony Trinitron 21" RGB CRT + PC Engine briefcase / MD / FC - all with everdrives. I can't be dealing with LCD screens for 240p games, CRT or nothing at all! :) I had a SFC set-up but I recently packed it away because it wasn't getting any use. And an arcade cab in the corner of the livingroom, which unfortunately is getting pretty neglected lately because of life stuff.

I also have a WiiU and PS4 for some reason that I never use, with Mario Maker and SFV.

Nice MD shelf, I see you too appreciate the charm of its ruggedly competitive arcade ports. MD Strider will forever have a place in my home and heart, haha.

Nice pics Ex_Moaquito :D

I've likely posted a pic in the candy cabs thread in hardware, the middle cab is currently yoko for SSF2X, but this was a fun shot when all three were vert.

Heh ta. Ever since seeing the glorious scanlined RGB screenshots of the Japanese Megadrive coverage in C&VG magazine back the late 80's it's always been my fav console of mine. Going from a Master System and craving the 'arcade experience' at home, seeing those glorious screenshots blew my mind. For the first time a home conversion was so close to the arcade that I could practice a game at home and my skills would translate to the arcade version with minimal differences, something no other console before it never managed to pull off. I remember doing this with MD Strider, so neat. Also no other consoles games looks quite at awesome as a row of JP MD games. One big regret of mine was selling off my 100+ JP MD games in the early 2000s, but I picked up my Astro with the money so it kinda worked out :)

Heh you may have arrived late but you have massively contributed/OP'd to some of the most informative/passionate threads on the forum, and possible the Internet.

@WelshMegalodon
Thanks :) My controller is a DJ Dao FP7, they go for $199 + shipping. It's an unofficial controller and is serviceable with a handy magnetic covered under the controller for easy access to the buttons if you ever feel the need to upgrade to authentic arcade parts or a quick service. It also has an illuminated turntable and flashy LED buttons :)

Where are you from in Wales btw?

Oh, DJ Dao. I know I looked into ordering a Pop'n controller from them some time back, though I'm honestly not good enough at rhythm games for one to be worthwhile. Konami's been skimping on home console releases of their rhythm games, so it's good to know there are still reliable third-party vendors.

Ah, that is a misleading username, isn't it? Sorry, but I'm actually Asian-American. You'll notice that the earlier Final Fantasy games weren't released in PAL regions. The moniker comes from an old nickname that stuck - no offense meant to actual Welshmen like yourself.

I should probably get a mod to change that...

Anyone got tips for tipping a CRT TV on its side to play vertical-orientation games once I get a supergun?

Unplug is first, tate it, then let it sit for 10 min before plugging it back in.

Set it down very carefully.

Don't drop it.

We just moved a couple weeks ago so please excuse the mess, but here is my current setup.

Image

Image

Modern games plug-into the 60" Vizio 1080p 120hz display, old school games connect to the 14" PVM. I use the little stand/end-table it's on to pull the PVM up close to the couch when I'm gaming, when I'm not gaming it gets shoved aside out of the way. There's a pile of power supply wall-warts off to the right of the TV stand. I leave the power supplies plugged into their respective consoles, and then just plug them in one-by-one to a surge protector. All the SCART cables go off to the left of the TV stand for connecting to the PVM.

Currently debating getting a framemeister. Using the big screen is tempting....but at the same time the wife is usually using it when I'm playing games on the PVM, so it might not work in my situation.

I also own a Neo Geo AES, but it is currently stuck in the purgatory of unmarked boxes randomly strewn throughout the house

Behind the couch I also have a MAME cabinet, currently working on RGB modding the 32" sony that's in there. If I'm sucessful I'll probably relocate all my retro systems to the bottom section of the cabinet, and use the empty space in the TV stand to set up my surround sound sh....stuff.

How do you like the stiffness of the handle? Is it okay or is it too hard?

I love the stick! I even use it more than my Qanba since I've bought a fancy USB adapter for it~

But I had to replace the spring after a few practice sessions, it was just too stiff/hard for me to move. After that I played 'galuda and DOJ with the LS-32 spring which was a lot better; now I'm using a LS-32(-01) though! :P

13" (it's a PVM-1354Q). I actually got it with my BVM-20F1U in spring last year, but didn't see any use for it at the time.

would like to replace this stupidity with a cab but they're impossible to find where I'm at :( yoko stuff goes to the little TV because I'm too lazy to move the control box back and forth from my main TV

4MB X68K XVI compact, trisync packard bell branded NEC monitor

Image

I keep consoles in drawers and only take out the one I want to use and put it on that little cart because I really don't like the way having a bunch of consoles out looks. the TV takes component, everything's converted to that from SCART RGB except the NES which I think looks fine through composite

I guess this is also a shooter gaming setup
