A couple quick Framemeister/PS2/GC/N64 questions

I haven't really been able to find answers for these questions elsewhere, so I'm hoping someone here can help out.

Using the Framemeister, is it better to use deinterlaced 480i or 480p when upscaling to 1080? I know there has been some discussion that it doesn't handle 480p well. Currently, I am getting 480p out of the Dreamcast, which is still the best option as far as I know, 480p out of my Wii (which will primarily be used for GameCube games, most of which will run at 480p), and occasionally out of my PS2. I don't think I have the option to run 480i out of the RGB signal on the Dreamcast, so that's just going to be what it is, but for the other two, where I have the option, which option is going to give me the better picture?

I modded my N64 with Tim's N64RGB board. However, I notice I get some noise from the RGB output, as you can see here: https://youtu.be/DWDZ_VwxB20 (this is a capture through the Framemeister of my console). I tried upgrading the internal wiring from the N64RGB to the video out jack using better quality, better shielded wire, but the noise didn't go away. I also switched from sync on luma to csync, which also made no difference but allowed me to use my upgraded, better-shielded SCART cable, which ALSO made no difference. Is there something else I should be doing to get rid of that, or is that just inherent?

Finally, Fudoh mentioned that it is important to disable vertical sync on the Framemeister when capturing, but I'm not sure I understand why. I have noticed, at least on some NES games, that the top of the image seems to get increasingly wobbly - is that why? And if so, what is the correct procedure for capturing vintage consoles through the Framemeister? I use the SC512N1L capture card and OBS.

The Framemeister is not the best 480p upscaler, but you will still get better results with a 480p source on the Framemeister than you will with a 480i source on the Framemeister. Keep using 480p.

480i vs. 480p input to the FM: in general 480p is much better, but since the processing quality of the FM with 480i is so muchi higher, you can try 480i for slow games with lot of static screens. 480p will be superior whenever there's much movement.

VSYNC for capture: this totally depends on your capture device. With VSYNC enabled the FM will output the same refresh rate as the active source delivers. With VSYNC disabled the FM will do a framerate conversion to 59.94Hz (NTSC timing). I think your card should be fine with variable refresh rates (as in VSYNC enabled). So are the Elgato boxes. Avermedia on the other hand very much needs VSYNC disabled, otherwise you get out of sync video.

Can you clarify what's the issue exactly? I watched the video but couldn't see anything obviously wrong with it. Maybe you mean the AA filter the N64 applies to most games?

It's mostly noticeable in the background. It's like a scrolling line, sort of. It's only in the RGB signal.

Boooo. I might try the LPF feature if there is one or see if some of these firmware updates coming out help.

Just use 480p. Better picture quality and less input lag.
