Probably a good idea to cannabalise a less good stick but be prepared to grind out the holes as stock parts are often undersized by a few mm. Bonus if it has the PCB inside you can use. You can usually find something for £20/30, I used this cheap arse Mayflash stick as a shell for a Saturn padhack, but Dreamcast sticks seem pretty popular too. Watch out that it's deep enough for the parts you want to put inside too, made that mistake with a crappy Hori EX2.

There's people that can make custom ones out of wood or metal for you on SRK & other forums. If you want to do it yourself, definitely check out http://www.slagcoin.com/joystick.html

I have a case from Foe Hammer. It's made of wood and quite heavy. Very nice to play with such a solid arcade stick.
