DMG-01 Screen Issue

Post by Skips »

I've noticed with a lot of game boys over the years that they tend to have a similar issue to the game gear screens where light areas project translucent bars into dark areas or vice versa. See the ladder in the example below.

I know in the game gear its just a worn out LCD but in the game boy is it pretty much the same thing or is this a capacitor issue? Its not damage from the mod, all the game boy's I have seen have done this even before the mod to some varying degree.
I am no longer taking free or paid modding projects, please do not contact me asking for my services. Thanks :).

I dont think its an issue with anything, its just the nature of the screen. Like you say, they all do this to varying degrees.

I agree that they all do this to some degree, it got less pronounced on my DMG when I backlit and biverted it...but it's still there. It's kinda primitive, but I covered the overscan area of the screen on mine with black electrical tape so you can't see the bright border LOL. You can't notice that it's tape through the screen bezel/cover.

When I opened this thread I expected it to be about vertical lines of screen data missing...that is such a hassle to fix.
