Running MAME/consoles/etc on Egret II

Post by Rupert H »

I've just become the proud owner of an Egret II cab. I've long-missed the boat on affordable PCBs so I've been looking into other solutions. I'm aware that there are a ton of different options that have been covered here but it's a fast moving word and I'd like to know what considered to be the best solution to date.

http://www.jammaplus.co.uk/forum/forum_ ... -cab-ready

Has anybody got any experience with these? It outputs native resolutions and refresh rates and using Groovy MAME it sounds like it's as close to perfection as can be. Are there any caveats?

Secondly, what do people use for 21 pin scart connections (PC Engine, MD, Saturn, PS1 and 2)? I'm aware of scart to Jamma adaptors. Is it simple plug and play? Are there a preferred manufacturer?

I'd also love to get the 360 library running through it too but I can't imagine how I'd get this looking acceptable. The Nanao 29 is only 15/24 htz. Is there a solution for getting a non-interlaced signal out of the 360 on this cab?

Many thanks chaps,
Rupert.

for the best 24khz output you need an UVC (31 to 24khz converter). For 15khz 240p output the best converter is the Mimo Genius II. If you're ok with 15khz 480i all you need is a Scart to Jamma amp.

Excellent. Thanks for the answer. Looks like it's the Mimo Genius II for me.

Any input on running the 2huwman's MiniKAB II?

I hooked up my Xbox 360 with a Lemony Vengance box to the Egret 2 and it's looks pretty nice. It's a very easy plug and play solution
