Hello,
I was wondering if any scart cable for the megadrive will do ?
On a snes u have scart cables specifically for a pal/famicom/US console. Each region requires a different type of scart cable.
But i cannot seem to find anything different for the sega Megadrive / Genesis.
If i buy a scart cable for my Megadrive will it be a euroscart ?
For reference i (will) own two models : a normal secondhand PAL Megadrive and my original Japanese Megadrive that had been modded to support a PAL-I standard (it was sold new back in the day as a pal console, but was actually modded). It's also know as a PAL Asian Megadrive.
Apparently it can be reverted to its original specifications (japanese Megadrive).
If i buy a euroscart cable for a European megadrive, will it also work for the japanese Megadrive ? In other words, do the pins on the round scart connector on the back of the console differ from region to region ?
I have the impression they stay the same for every region.
Thnx !

Re: Megadrive/Genesis scart question
Genesis/Mega Drive scart cables are universal. I've used the same cable on my PAL and Japanese Mega Drives and they work fine.

Re: Megadrive/Genesis scart question
There are different cables for the two different Genesis/Mega Drive models. While they're not region specific, saying Genesis/Mega Drive cables are universal is very misleading.AndehX wrote:Genesis/Mega Drive scart cables are universal. Oh yeah I know that. I'm not talking about different models. That much is obvious simply by looking at the back of the console. Mega drives of the same model will use the same cable regardless of region.ZellSF wrote:There are different cables for the two different Genesis/Mega Drive models.
