First off, hello to everyone at this forum. I'm glad something like this exists for all lovers of classic gaming, or even new games that resemble an old genre.
Now on to my reason for reaching out. I have this memory from childhood of going on vacation with my family in Florida and visiting the small game room/arcade off to the side of the lobby in the hotel where we were staying. There was a shmup arcade cabinet game there that I instantly enjoyed and played every time I had a chance to while we were staying there. I tried to find it years ago, but the internet wasn't as developed and information nor the community were as far-reaching as now. So maybe with my description someone here can tell me what I was playing. I would love to have the opportunity to find it today and see how it compares to my memory.
I don't remember great detail, but this is what I've got. It was the mid-nineties, maybe early nineties, but let's consider any game pre-2000 just to be safe. In my memory the graphics seem to be no earlier than late eighties, more likely nineties. I believe it was a left-to-right side-scroller. At the start of your play you chose from a small selection of robots to play as, and then you could choose from a selection of special weapons. I seem to remember each robot having a dominant color theme, such as was common to so many of those games. As I remember it, there was no movement between foreground and background e.g. Final Fight.
I do know that it was not Armored Warriors/Powered Gear S.V.A.E.. I know many of those characteristics are common to many shmups, but I'm hoping that the colored robots and the ability to mix whatever character with whatever special you wanted is unique enough to find the game. I've searched a lot before turning to you guys. Thanks so much in advance for any help!

Re: Trying to Find a Shmup from Childhood
Dude, that really might be it. The only thing that makes me question it is that I thought I remember being able to play as a green robot, and it looks like in Wolf Fang you are purple by default or red if you're the second player. My memory is excellent, but we're talking about more than twenty years and a game I didn't play much, so that part could just be confused. Thanks so much!
That very likely is the answer, but if anybody has any other suggestions, I'm all ears!
