Re: Trump: A real American Hero Dude

Here's one for all those who kept insisting that nothing's going to happen in the South China Sea:

Routine diplomatic maneuvers, right? Nothing to worry about. Clearly not a conduit for economic hegemony in Asia nor a key role in starting a larger conflict against NATO. Nope.

quash wrote: Things are so crazy right now that you can't afford to be reasonable anymore. Eight years ago, I would've told you it was ridiculous to think that any presidential campaign would waste money on paying people to post on the internet; these days, you'd be paranoid to think there aren't at least a few shills on any given public forum. It's become a constant, a fact of life. And it's only going to get worse.
And you think that these paid puppets would see value in coming to a forum for a niche genre of video games that 99.9% of the population stopped giving a shit about over a decade ago, and indeed whose population isn't significantly American?

Fuck it, I'm posting this again. I'm going to do so on every page of this thread until somebody can prove that it doesn't exist.

Pritzker Group $7,873,257
Soros Fund Management $7,044,600
Paloma Partners $6,108,400
Newsweb Corp $5,013,50
Now let's look at Trump's:
John Powers Middleton Companies $150,000
Philips International Realty $100,000
Kushner Companies $100,000
Manchester Financial Group $50,000
AON Corp $28,950
AJD Construction $25,000
Now, correct me if I'm wrong (since that is your job, after all), but it seems to me like the candidate being propped up by big banks and crony capitalists is Hillary. Am I conflating the fact that she's received millions from special interests with my feeling that this makes her at least more likely than Trump to be beholden to them? Explain to me why I am wrong to feel this way based on these facts.

Just because evil people don't support Trump doesn't mean he's good. Just because people are evil doesn't mean they can't share mutual interests with good people.

Trump lost the big money donors when he went on TV and said he might default on the National Debt. Nevermind that he later reversed himself when someone told him how stupid that was, an offhand statement like that delivered from the Oval Office desk could cause a worldwide market panic. Those exorbitant tax cuts listed on the Trump campaign's website won't be worth much if he crashes the world economy. Even less if he gives Putin the thumbs up to send tanks into Estonia and set off WWIII.

So the evil donors are settling for a smaller tax cut under Hillary, and I'm settling for a president who won't reduce the planet to a smoldering radioactive cinder. Nobody's happy this campaign.

And frankly those evil businessmen, for all their evil, know enough about business to see that six bankrupted companies are not the hallmark of an effective manager. Trump's a great reality TV star, but so was Snooki.
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.

An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.

Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

So what we seem to have in this election, according to each opposing side, is Corporate Supervillain and Serial Killer, Hillary "Asmodeus" Clinton, versus Thin-Skinned Dumbass Sociopath and Shitty Businessman, Donald "Dumpy Trumps" Trump.

So let's think here. If I was corporate supervillain Hillary Clinton, and I was handed the presidency, I would...
* Make a bunch of money off of special interests, like a boss.
* Do about 20% of what I promised so that it's not too obvious I'm just fucking with everybody. I would then blame the tribalistic morons of the Republican party for the missing 80%.
* Bathe in my bathtub of money with Katy Perry, not allowing Bill to join in because fuck that guy.

Now if I was Dumpy Trumps and I was handed the presidency, my day would consist of...
* Determining the day's activities with some dice. The dice have complimentary phrases like "THE BEST" and "HUGE" instead of dots.
* Posting the nuclear launch codes on Twitter just to prove I had them, thus quieting all the haters who didn't think I could be trusted with nuclear launch codes.
* Random terrorists use my launch codes, that I posted to Twitter, to kill everyone.
* The end.

I can sort of understand the appeal of the latter scenario. Hillary can't engage in corporate supervillainy if everyone's dead.

youre failing to see the bigger picture here....
The only reason this years election has the second-least and third least likeable demihuman beings as presidential candidates is because of years and years and years of subtle subversion and manipulation of the media, education, art, and society, finally paying off. everywhere around us we are less encouraged to think for ourselves, but instead rely on other outlets to shape our opinions... The average IQ of all human being is steadily increasing according to reasearchers, but would a nation with a higher IQ nominate donald Trump and Hillary Clinton? I think not, friend... The only possible conclusion to conclude is that these results are merely doctored in order to fool us sheep into thinking we are getting smarter, but that could be less true. DSA (Divided states of America) politics have slowly mutated into 1 big circus where its more about spectacle and promises than deeds and demonstration of ability. So has the average voter begun to think in more black and white terms fed lies by the internet, and everywhere you see everyone is divided by another great Issue perpetuated by politicians

The truth is that these Issues do not matter at all in the grand scheme.. they merely exist to distract the population from the real issues caused by bankers, goverment agents, and Corporation, all of which have ties to Israël and seedy Corporate groups. by dividing everyone, all sense of unity is destroyed, people are desparate to belong somewhere and get into fights to protect their identity. so will people grow tired of the fighting, and retreat to their own shells living in their own world free from pointless suffering while consuming Corporate products to make their fantasy reality. and so will Corporate profit off the conflicts of those who believe their pawns, and those who seek respite. The Corporations don't need to spend money on shilling, because we are already doing it for them. through subliminimal messages on the internet and media, so-called "Memes", ideas will spread like virii and influence the behavior of us. subconcsiously we are already aiding the decline by playing VideoGames and discussing subjects without any consequences like they want us to while spreading "Memes" ourselves. Corporate is slowly overthrowing our governments and change the world into a Corpocracy. First Japen, then America and Ireland next
All of this, just for Corporate profit...

Don’t believe me? It’s all in the numbers. For a hundred years, there’s been a conspiracy of plutocrats against ordinary people.
Number one: In 1945, corporations paid 50 percent of federal taxes. Now they pay about 5 percent. Number two: in 1900, 90 percent of Americans were self-employed; now it’s about two percent.
It’s called consolidation. Strengthen governments and corporations, weaken individuals. With taxes, this can be done imperceptibly over time.
The entire executive branch is hand-picked. Nineteen of the last twenty-three U.S. presidents have been members of the Trilateral Commission. The Trilateral Commission is financed by the Rockefellers and the Rothschilds.

human beings must learn to love eachother again and live in peace to escape those who seek to control us through toying with our feelings. we must fight back and show them the true human spirit.
furthermore, i consider that Israël must be destroyed.......

First off, I assume that your feelings that things are "so crazy" aren't limited to the ways Hillary is spending her campaign money, but what the heck, let's go ahead and zero in on that for now...
quash wrote:Hillary's campaign has raised, and spent, roughly $6 million on having people post favorably for her on the internet.
I'm not sure why you're treating this as such a clandestine thing, the PAC has a website. Moreover, at least according to its mission statement, it doesn't pay people to repeatedly type "Hillary Is Great!" wherever they go, but rather to look for incorrect statements about her on social media and correct them. I'm not on any social media so I haven't experienced any of their shenanigans firsthand (then again, that's just what you'd expect a stealth Hillary operative to say, right?), but they've got a busload of facts (or, to translate it into your lingua franca, "facts") listed on the aforementioned site, so feel free to peruse them at your leisure and call out whichever ones are incorrect. I'm sure you're a lot more up on this sort of thing than a soulless political gigolo like myself.

By the way, still waiting for your answer on why Trump's citation of the "out of workforce" numbers is total bullshit.
It never fails to amaze me how hesitant you are to take into account the actual things the candidates have proposed...then again, you're supporting a nominee whom you're actively counting on to go back on half the things he says (only the stuff you don't like, of course, everything else he'll totally keep, for sure), so I suppose the sky's the limit here.

But hell, let's try again, just on the ground floor, taxes: even in very basic, non-specific summary form, Clinton proposes tax hikes on the very wealthy (albeit not nearly as much as I'd like to see), including via closing Wall Street loopholes, and an increase in breaks and benefits to the lower end of the scale (she specifically mentions small businesses, though Trump claims out of the blue that she wants them to pay a 50 percent tax rate; just the sort of thing some kind of, oh, I don't know, online fact-checker might be warranted for, wouldn't you say?). Trump (whose site, at least at a glance, doesn't even have a dedicated section on taxes) on the other hand, wants to slash taxes across the board to the tune of several trillion dollars (previous revision was 10, not sure if anyone's crunched the numbers on the latest one), with the vast majority of the cuts going to the very rich and big businesses, and place a temporary moratorium on ALL new regulations when he steps into office. In otherwords, pretty much exactly what you'd expect out of a modern "centrist" liberal and "pro-business" conservative platform, respectively. Oh, but just to say it again, only one of them has deigned to release their own tax returns to the plebes.

Again, of course, none of this matters, because you already believe that both of them are lying through their teeth, but only Trump is doing so in a good way. More wasted breath on the likes of you.
Because that's what happens when you spend millions on infiltrating every corner of the internet, silly. Once word of this gets out, all anyone has to say to shut down your supporters is that they're being paid to do so. And, really, how can you prove that you aren't?
In otherwords, you've convinced yourself that the latest Alex Jones special is true (by the way, that crying baby at his rally that Trump didn't even actually kick out? Totally a plant!), and thus by figuring out the latest Big Secret you've suddenly stumbled upon (no pun intended) a magical trump card for anything and everything anybody says that could possibly paint your candidate in a worse light or his opposition in a better one. Despite being completely ignorant of the most obvious retort in the world: How can Trump prove he isn't secretly spending money to make himself look better? And that YOU aren't on HIS payroll?! It can't be done! I win! I don't have to listen to you anymore!

I'll say it one more time: both you and your candidate of choice are woefully unprepared for participatory democracy, and neither of you see the slightest problem with that. Sorry folks, I'm out.

I could spend time ripping apart every last bit of your post, but this is the thing that really bothers me. You've said time and again that anyone who supports Trump "isn't ready for participatory democracy", but what do you actually mean by that? What makes them unqualified, and more importantly, what makes you qualified to judge them?

For what it's worth, Trump won his nomination by popular vote alone, whereas Hillary had to stack nearly all of her party's superdelegates to close the deal. Last I checked, the only qualification necessary to vote is being a registered, voting age citizen (though if liberals had their way, they would even remove that barrier, as they're currently trying to in California).

So are you suggesting that the US adopt a different system that voters don't have as much control over? Can I expect another rationalization along the lines of the candidate being supported by some of the richest people on the planet not being in league with them? You should try taking a definite stance instead of deflecting my points with red herrings and making obtuse statements with little to no context.

Quick and dirty: CTR is posting everywhere on the internet, not just social media. His clever retort is actually stupid because there's nothing secret about it: it is a well documented and public facing organization. Trump has no such dedicated shitposting PAC because he can achieve everything he wants to in this arena on his Twitter account.

As for his economic policy, it just came out recently that he's on board with a plan similar to what house Republicans were proposing: three tax brackets with the highest paying 33℅. It's almost as if I said this would happen earlier.

I could go further but I don't have time right now. I really do want to hear about how one can be "qualified for participatory democracy" according to some guy on the internet.

If I really need to explain it again, here you go: both you and your chosen candidate not only refuse to base your actions and decisions on available facts, but go well beyond even that, to the point where you openly deny that objective information, let alone an objective standpoint on any issue, even exists. "Truth", as you apparently see it, is determined only by how strongly you happen to believe in it and/or how loudly and repeatedly you say it - and if you've convinced yourself that everyone's suddenly out to get white males like you, and that political correctness is their weapon of choice, and that addressing this "issue" is the key to solving pretty much everything, it's become painfully clear that no argument, no data set, no historical perspective will ever change your mind. And that degree of know-nothing obstinance is complete anathema to how democracy, or any manner of societal progress whatsoever, is supposed to function.

Once you've boarded that particular train there's literally no limit to what you can consider "true" - if the "facts" don't conform to what you already "know", the facts must be wrong, because someone screwed with them to keep all those silly sheep off the trail, but you're just too smart for that! Not only can you pull random numbers out of thin air with no regard to whether they add up, you can conjure up fantastical stories and scenarios that boggle the mind, and if they suddenly stop being beneficial and/or interesting to you, you simply act like you never said them, and poof, they're just gone, forever! No corrections, no consequences, just move right on to the next one, while those silly geese in the reality-based community struggle to keep up.

Anything is possible in Imaginationland - only problem is the rest of the world doesn't live there, and sure as hell doesn't cast votes from there. Once you choose to abandon even the mere pretense of objectivity and delight in spitting in the face of logical thought, you abandon civilized society - if not sapient humanity - along with it. You do indeed have the right to cast your vote, but your thoughts and actions, and their intended recipient, are, to be perfectly blunt, nothing short of an affront to everything that vote is supposed to stand for.

So anyone who doesn't fall rank and file with your social dogma isn't qualified to vote, because voicing your views, no matter how controversial they may be to society at large, through the ballot is antithetical to what democracy stands for according to you.

Keep in mind that shills primarily serve two purposes: to interfere with direct exchange of ideas (hence why BM is always trying to change the subject to something of relative unimportance) and to demoralize the opposition (which is why he's trying to guilt trip anyone reading this thread into not voting for Trump).

I don't care if everyone here votes for Hillary, writes in Bernie, or does whatever else they deem fit to do with their ballot. Wipe your ass with it for all I care. I'm just here to provide the type of perspective that the media and indeed, society at large doesn't want you to see.

 There's no way in hell you're actually this thick, but I'll keep playing along: the problem, once again, is that casting a ballot is supposed to be - has to be, for democracy to function - an informed decision, but the only way to make anything resembling a case in favor of a Trump vote is to outright reject reality...and to frame that self-serving rejection as "an alternate perspective the media doesn't want you to see".

There's also no way you didn't detect the massive irony bomb that went off the second you posted that.

By the way, another way to "interfere with the direct exchange of ideas" is to outright ignore even the simplest of questions posed to you: still waiting for your answer on Trump's bullshit citation from several posts ago.

One last thing before I get on with my day - the fact that you'd so much as lend voice to the notion that Hillary would be sending clandestine operatives all the way out to this incredibly tiny, incredibly obscure corner of the internet to "poison the waters" is enough by itself to display just how willfully far removed from reality you are, before you even take note of the fact that I've been a member here for fifteen years now, and have spent the vast, vast majority of that time discussing things that have nothing to do with any manner of politics. So tell me, at what point did the Clinton Mafia "get to" me? I'd love to hear your rendition of this tale - and if whatever you pull out of your backside this time doesn't sound convincing enough, just claim that "people are saying" it.

Jill Stein is seen as a Hillary spoiler. Johnson is seen as a Trump spoiler. Ergo, they'll talk about Johnson at least a hundred times more often than Stein.
Looking at a dozen major print, digital, and television outlets, we found that stories centered on Johnson jumped from just six in June 2012 to 69 during the same month in 2016.
What a mystery.

And of course no matter who you vote for, the machines will mysteriously register more Clinton votes than exit polling indicates she got.

Maybe they were right. If voting mattered, They wouldn't let you do it.

The definition of what constitutes an informed decision is the problem with your argument.
Let's take global warming. If I vote for someone who says global warming isn't real because (insert bogus studies and false experts), am I making an informed decision? Not if I want to decide based on current scientific understanding. But if I don't actually care about the truth of the matter, want no changes in policy and just someone to tell me that's it all going to be alright, then I certainly am making an informed decision with that choice.

Your argument only works if you assume that everyone's working with more or less the same basic values and goals. Which just isn't the case - which, in turn, is the biggest reason we need democracy at all.
