Looking for manual scans

Post by Magma Dragoon »

Is there any good site there you guys recommend to find video game manual scans? Of course, I'm mostly looking into shoot'em ups, Japanese preferably.

Sega Retro has some pretty nice Japanese MD manual scans - not sure if they're printable quality but they're very browse-able. Some for uncommon games too, like Slap Fight MD.

Thanks dude, that's the sort of stuff I'm looking into. Most places I ask people only recommend Replacementdocs, and that has to be the crappiest resource ever.

videogameden has some famicom/pc engine/snes manuals, with watermarks and quality is low-medium, still thanks to him for keeping it alive. Sega-retro, as mentioned above, has great quality manuals usually, yeah.

I was hoping to find some japanese website or ftp, but only found a site about advertisment flyers for consoles (which were a thing, not only arcade flyers, yeah) - http://www.gamedic.sakura.ne.jp/ip/tirasi/index.shtml

As for ps1/ps2/n64/gc/etc. yeah, dunno anything with japanese ones.

Bad attitude of people who fear of scum on ebay also doesnt help. I mean, okay, if u fear that, just make it not so high res (1000x, or 800x or at max, 600x pixels @ 72 dpi would be enough for watching it, so no need to full size @ 300/600 dpi if u dont wanna. Just remember recent ridiculous thread about Harmful Park which was WTF until some kind sould made a scan of cover himself)... Though, sometimes it's just a matter that you fear to destroy it in process of scan depending on things, that's too. (like with artbooks, you need to tear them to individual pages, so sacrificing =/ at least with manuals you usually dont need that as they use different method then spine glue)

It goes especually DAMMIT when we talk about rare stuff. Like, if i possibly can order smth myself to scan myself for an example, kings field 4 etc., common stuff, i mean; yeat when it's case about smth like SNES' King of Demons / Majuu Ou , which sells for $1500 currently its damn freaking NOPE... (like, i could order it 5 years later when save up for it but i guess it would cost 3x time more in the future)..... So it's just great hope that some of those who already own it could scan and share.

Outside of Videogameden and Sega Retro, everything else is a crapshoot, though I did find a few sites:

* http://forum.freeplaytech.com/thread-4394.html - Has scans for all American Neo Geo Pocket games, though no Japanese ones (I wanted the JP manuals of the Metal Slug titles)
* http://www.passionmsx.org/modules/mydow ... php?cid=75 - Has quite a few scans for MSX games
* http://gamesdbase.com/all_manuals.aspx and https://archive.org/details/consolemanuals - Lots of random scans for various systems

I can't load your MSX link, but here is another site with some useful stuff
http://www.meits.nl/msxrepository/
Including manuals, covers, flyers, cassette photos etc.

There are only US manuals, but Vimm's Lair and Digitpress have been my go-to sites for years. Sega Retro is probably still your best bet, though.

SMS Power! also has a sizable collection of manuals.

Haha, that was me! My thread, I mean.
Can't believe you remembered that....awesome.

I'm still incredibly happy and grateful I was helped out after all, and no, I haven't done any shennanigans with that scan. My now not-so-naked-anymore copy of "Harmful Park" sits on my shelf happily and gets regular exercise in my PS1. What an amazing game!! Immensely beautiful to look at.

But yeah, getting there wasn't easy and I certainly did not expect that initial reaction. Probably because I underestimated the BS some people do, I don't know. But in my defense, I have yet to see a "reproduced" PSX game on eBay. Don't believe it's a thing, luckily.

However....I was reminded of this whole situation myself recently. I think one of my arguments was that I'd gladly take pictures of the disc, to prove I really have the game, and that the disc is, of course, black. Should be proof enough since there aren't any black blank discs, right? Yeah, well.....just saw those on eBay Germany a couple of days ago when looking for regular blank discs, and I did feel a little gut-punched. Why would anyone make/ sell those? :(

There is some specific stuff I've been searching for, like Gradius Gaiden and Raiden III.

Gamedic Museum site is dead now, but i found out that GaijinPunch hosts some of those flyers on his gamengai site (that one with Cave interviews etc.), so huge thanks to him!
