Weird Super Emotia Issue

Post by HandOfIke »

Hi,

I have a Super Emotia which has been working well but has now started doing something a little weird. Basically it won't take a 640x480@60 signal from my PC... I have to set my Graphics Card to 59Hz... at 59Hz the image is fine but at 60Hz the Emotia just keeps flashing the input format lights 1-4 in sequence and no image.

I have managed to get the Emotia to take a 480p signal from an Xbox 360 so it might not be a fault with the Emotia, maybe a windows issue? It hasn't always happened so I'm a bit lost and a little concerned.

Any ideas what it could be?

Cheers

Is it possible that your graphics card changes the sync polarity when switching between 59.9 and 60Hz ? One's a SMPTE timing, the other one's VESA, so it's possibly that the sync polarity is different. You might be able to adjust this manually. And if not, an Extron RGB interface between the PC and the Emotia should definitely fix this.

I'm not sure about the 59 and 60 and polarity but it's only refresh rate that I am changing directly in the properties, nothing else.

I just ran my PC in 480@60 to an RGB201 then to the Emotia, and again the same issue nothing at 60Hz turning it down to 59 and a great stable image appears.

It must be the graphics card as the Emotia see's an Xbox at 60Hz and a Dreamcast at 60Hz and displays fine, but I can't figure out what it is...

Okay, I think I've sorted this.... There was an option to Enable GPU up-scaling which was checked on my graphics card driver. I've unchecked this and now the Emotia is seeing the 480@60 signal fine...
