Sony KV25XRB RGB input

Post by soviet conscript »

Thinking of buying a old Sony KV25XRB which has an interesting RGB input. I think it was called something like Sony multiRGB but other then that I cant find much about it. I read a few articles from the time that mention its use for hooking up a CGA computer which suggests its digital RGB but then I also read people using it for older games so maybe its both? can anyone clarify or give an opinion? I know its no PVM but if the price is right it may be a interesting novelty.

That looks like the same Rgb input thats on old NEC monitors.

a 34-pin Floppy drive cable should fit in it.

Then, you would just have to figure out the Pinout and wire it to a scart connector to use it with consoles.

I used to use those TVs back in the 90's.

I figured out the pinout back then on my own, later on I found a connector kit that Sony used to sell, it actually had a pinout but it's in Japanese.

it is analog RGB, IIRC you need composite sync, it won't take composite video for sync.

I believe there's already been a topic on this exact set and its connector before, which should have any additional info you need.

You'll get more hits if you get the letter order in XBR right, though :P

That monitor looks like it may default to digital video through that connector and you have to first select RGB with a certain Pin in that connector.

I could be wrong though. I didnt find enough information on it besides the pinout.
