Table-Top RPG's

Post by Squire Grooktook »

Finally diving into the whimsical word of group story telling and imagination aided and abetted by tactical gameplay mechanics.

Right now we're voting on whether to play as gnostic reality hacking spies, time traveling disco knights, catholic space nazis, zombie lolis, or to just go crazy.

Any of you bad dudes ever beat an opponent by ramming your face into his fist really hard with a good die roll? I have a friend who did. And one day I hope to follow in his footsteps.

JWS got a few of us playing some post-apocalyptic D&D variant once online on roll20.

I wanted to be some sort of shaman in communion with earth spirits of the wasteland or some shit. Called myself a 'wasteman'.
Another friend was just.. well he wouldn't join the game unless he could have Crazy Diamond, the stand power from JoJo. It didn't fit at all.

I believe at some point we were in some wandering fairground/circus type thing and because mr. JoJo didn't want to join for that session, JWS insisted that we imagine a cannon reason for his absence.

The reason was: he was abducted and we found him naked in the circus tent on a hospital bed with his ass in the air, a giant syringe sticking out of a single buttock.
When all hell broke lose I tried to wheel the bed out to save him but rolled a 2. The wheels jammed and I tripped, landing face first on his ass.

That was the last session, the group wasn't enthused enough to carry on.

Gotta watch out for weebs and their mary sue's, mang

Anybody get outta line, they get a paddlin'

That was a fucking great story though, I am laughing. I will feel fulfilled if something similar happens in our campaign.

I just like reading stories that are obviously completely made up.

Of course they're made up, it's a game of make believe, after all.

Old Man Henderson is like many a biblical tale: it may be complete fiction, but the many moral lessons it provides* are still valuable to this day.

*The manifold importance of point blank annihilation, for example.

I once played this WW2-themed RPG online as a russian sniper, our first encounter was against Captain America and Wolverine. Shot the Captain in the leg and crippled him, then proceeded to pull my knife and stab Wolverine to death. Somehow my character came out unscathed. I don't think our GM was good at this.

As it turns out, a shield that only covers 30% of your body and adamantite claws are not very effective weapons in the grimdark future of World War 2.

At least he was good at plot twists.

Attended my classmates' session once (when we were all ~14), but I don't think I was involved enough to enjoy that great deal (despite liking the idea). It was the same with 1vs1 fighting games' 2 player for me, except I tried the latter more than once.

I highly recommend Zombicide: Black Plague
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

Thanks for the suggestion! But right now the votes are more leaning towards Dark Souls loli zombies right now, actually. Gonna tally up on sunday and start preparing!

I'm partial to Mage: The Awakening(which is even less popular than the OWoD 'Ascension' version), but that's just me. Magic exists, but use it improperly and expect to get backhanded by Paradox, Abyssal entities, Seers of the Throne, Scelesti, or all of the above.

^^^As far as The World of Darkness is concerned, I'm personally hoping we play Demon: The Descent at some point. I'm partial to the wacky "tech-gnostic" setting.

Oh yeah, we're playing a Mad Max/Hokuto No Ken styled post-apocalyptic Gurps Campaign. Half the planet is frozen over in nuclear winter, the other is a scorching hot desert. Fun!

Dark Souls Lolis confirmed for next time tho.
