What reason for no signal LCD via XRGB2+ (VGA in/out)

Post by Skykid »

I have a little project I'm working on. Have a fairly simple LCD display (LG/Philips) that's hooked up to a Pandora's Box 3 (multigame arcade thingy). When connected directly (Pandora's Box to LCD) there's no problem. When trying to stick the XRGB2+ between them for scanlines I can't get a signal. I've tried every connection option.

I've never used VGA in, VGA out on the XRGB2+ before, this is the first time I've tried it iirc. What would the reason be why there's no signal here, any ideas?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the sub D15/VGA out on this thing outputs a 31KHz signal, which the XRGB2+ doesn't process nor of course will apply fake scanlines over since it only does that to 15KHz '240p' RGB input to the front JP21 (and the component in also iirc as long as it's fed 240p).
The 15KHz signal is on the jamma output side.

Instead of an XRGB2+ you'd need an SLG3000, or find some way to wire the jamma RGBs to the XRGB's JP21 in.

indeed. The VGA input is just an unprocessed passthrough - there's no SLG function for 31khz signals.

Ah right, that would explain it. I've never tried the VGA in/out together, I just assumed the functionality was there because the ports were there.

So it's an SLG3000 or bust. I'll head over to the wanted section!
