Help needed: How to feed a VGA signal into a Barco monitor?

I got a lovely Barco CPM 2070 yesterday, what a great screen

But I can't figure out how to change the geometry settings.
I can access the geometry menu and change everything to my liking, then I save the settings and exit the menu. But as soon as I exit the changes are no longer in place and it looks exactly like before.
If I enter the geometry menu again all my changes are still there and saved.

Does anybody know how to actually use the changes?

Does anybody know how to feed a VGA signal into this monitor? The Barco CPM 2070 runs both 15 and 31KHz signals but it doesn't have a VGA connector.

However it has an older 9 Pin Tally connector so I tried to feed VGA through a 15 pin to 9 pin adapter in:



That didn't work, it seems the monitor is getting something but doesn't know what to do with the signal. The screen is only jumping between inputs.

Then I found this Barco Port 3 pinout, it shows how to connect a VGA signal to a Barco 9 pin connector which is found on old Barco tube projectors:

Does anyone know if the 9 pin connector on my Barco is the same as the one on the projector?

The monitor also has BNC connectors on the back and maybe it's possible to feed VGA in it using a VGA to RGBHV cable but I'm not sure.

It "looks" like it only takes a RGB and C-Sync, based on what it logically suggests on BNC's.

So what you suggest is feeding RGB to the RGB BNCs and HV to the Coded C / Ext. Sync BNCs?

It says otherwise on the label at the back. This looks like television, not a computer monitor.

Hmm ... As long as you're sure its 31kHz compatible I would imagine both BNC and 9pin vga [tally] routes are viable connections.

I would suggest the BNC route is the easiest to test.

If using 'tally' I would suggest wiring you're own adapter - the pc 'standard' 9 pin looks different:

... And I know NEC used to have their own 9 pin adapters - which was probably different from that again. One thing you can almost rely on in AV is that if a company made projectors pre-2000 then they probably had their own way of doing that vga to projector cable/connection - some companies seemed to vary it across specific models ... no idea why

Yes, I'm 99% sure it does both 15 and 31KHz.

Thanks for the link, I think I will try wiring my own adapter, though someone from another forum suggested that the Tally connection on my monitor isn't used for picture input but who knows.

I also ordered a VGA to 5BNC adapter now and a BNC t-switch so I can try out to feed both H/V into the Ext. Sync input.

Yes it's possible that tally connection is used to video wall/daisy chain monitors - this was the kind of place you often found barcos - in nice displays - as opposed to in studios [Although they were studio grade...]

I got the same monitor the other day. What a lovely display. How did you manage to enter the geometry settings? Mine are password protected. I have no clue if there is a default password or even how to enter one anyway(using what keys?).
Did you find a solution for the dreamcast?
