Improving the Wii VC emulators (Wii VC+)
Is there a way to edit or improve the official emulators used by the Wii Virtual Console for better looking games? Many people have said that NES games are too dark and other platforms have their own set of issues to. Is there a Homebrew, emulation retro game community who deals with this? I would like to help.

have you tried retro arch for Wii?
it uses different emulation cores with much more accuracy than Nintendo's own virtual console, with it you have selectable pallets (NEStopia core) and a few other nice goodies (selectable resolutions, scanline overlay support)

No, but I've heard a lot of good things about it. How do I install it on my Wii? My Wii has already been softmodded and has the HomeBrew Channel. Can the games go on the Wii Menu like a channel?Blair wrote:have you tried retro arch for Wii?

you just need to download the retro arch Wii package from their website. and just place that on your SD card. then just access that through the homebrew Channel ( or you can make a four wadd channel that shows up in your main Wii menu)
the only other caveat (although they might of fixed this in recent version) is that very large neo-Geo games don't load properly (something like 48 MB is the limit I believe) but most games work fine. retro arch even has support for CD loading (Sega CD, Neo Geo CD, TurboGrafx CD)
No, unfortunately you will just have to keep an organized folder on your SD card for whatever games you're interested in loading. (I'm not aware of any way to make shortcuts to various games from retro arch on the main menu)Can the games go on the Wii Menu like a channel?

For NES, I just use the emulators, on the Wii. Same for PC Engine.
The NES games seem way too dark, to me. And a lot of PC Engine games are too blurry.
