Yeah, myself and plenty of others on the forum can do this. Just mail me a card and I'll hook it upNormalFish wrote:Alternatively, just get someone to send you a memory card with FMCB already installed.

I'm planning to go to a flea market tomorow and see what I can find.
Re: Questions about Playstation 2
So I went to a flea market this afternoon and I found an spch-39001 in good conditions, with cables and a dualshock 2 for 50 canadian dollars, so I bought it.
I bought two ps2 memory card and one ps1 card too, so I should be well equipped now.
I even manage to found MGS 1 and MGS VR missions in excellent conditions, almost new. A little expensive, but when I saw the conditions of the box and CDs, I couldn't resist.
Do you guys have any recommendations for RGB scart sync-on-luma cables ?

Re: Questions about Playstation 2
retrogamingcables for offers Luma and CSync PS RGB Scart cables (not selling JP21 that I need though)
But I was wondering about his the below paragraph as he charges extra for the CSync version.
Would this carry over to the JP21 version and if it offers picture quality improvements over Luma as it is not pure CSYNC?

Side note 3: We have received a number of enquires stating that the Playstation cannot output CSYNC. This is correct, the Playstation cannot output CSYNC, however, our CSYNC version of this RGB SCART cable has a built in sync separator circuit inside the SCART plug which takes the "sync over composite video" from pin 6 of the Playstation's AV socket output and then the Sync separator circuit extracts CSYNC signal and sends this to the output of the SCART plug and the composite video part of the signal is disregarded. Here is the path of the sync signal from the PS to the SCART cable using a sync cleaner. PS AV socket (pin 6) ---> Sync over composite video (CSYNC + composite video) ---> sync cleaner circuit (removes composite video) ---> CSYNC only---> SCART (pin 20), BINGO CSYNC!
Re: Questions about Playstation 2
I feel like sync-on-luma in a well shielded cable would provide equal or better quality to sync-on-composite using a stripper, but that's just a guess.

Re: Questions about Playstation 2
If you're in Cananda, why not just get component cables? Picture quality is the same but it's more compatible with pretty much an TV you might own.

Her ebay is not listing any item. Strange...austin532 wrote:retro_console_accessories is the most popular choice.
I'll go for retrogamingcables, their cables seem to be good.
So do you know if some guy near Montreal can do this ?BazookaBen wrote:Yeah, myself and plenty of others on the forum can do this. Just mail me a card and I'll hook it up
Otherwise, where are you located in the world ? (I need to check if the postal fees aren't too high) (Just PM me if you don't want to post your location here)
Re: Questions about Playstation 2
They can be bought from /r/ps2 for $10 USD. But mailing anything right now isn't a great idea with the possible Canada Post lockout starting this Friday, and the government has indicated they won't legislate them back to work like the previous government did last time this happened. We'll be without any postal service for a few months, if it comes to that.
Here in Montreal, there's a guy on kijiji selling one for $25 CAD a bit north of Blainville. Costs more, but if there's no postal service...

This is the site where I found a volunteer to install FMCB for me, there might be some volunteers in Canada: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f153/%5Brea ... you-58851/Joelepain wrote:So do you know if some guy near Montreal can do this ?

She often closes her store. She is much popular now and needs the time to catch up on orders. Check back in a few days.Joelepain wrote:Her ebay is not listing any item. Strange...austin532 wrote:retro_console_accessories is the most popular choice.

Re: Questions about Playstation 2
I believe nowadays she opens the store in the morning and then closes it at either a set time or after a certain number of cables have been sold.
PS1 Disc-Based Game ID BIOS patch for MemCard Pro and SD2PSX automatic VMC switching.
Re: Questions about Playstation 2
I think so too. retro_console_accessories needs time to build cables after all. you cant just sell them all the time especially if you dont have much help.
Re: Questions about Playstation 2
You'd think that the solution to that would be building up a stock so that your store can remain open all the time. She takes a very unusual approach.
Re: Questions about Playstation 2
yeah, the problem is most of the time they are listed on ebay auction in a large quantity.
everytime i see their listings for cables there was a large quantity available, and they are always almost sold out.

Re: Questions about Playstation 2
Her setup is likely this: she can make X cables per week. She opens Monday until X cables are ordered, and closes for a few days if she's "booked".
In the past I've just messaged her asking when she'd be back open. Seems to work out fine for me.

Yes you're problably right. Yesterday morning I checked and the items were back, and in the afternoon I rechecked and the store was empty.bobrocks95 wrote:I believe nowadays she opens the store in the morning and then closes it at either a set time or after a certain number of cables have been sold.
I have a problem of noise/interferences with the component output of the ps2 :

At first I thought my cable was bad. It is a cable with component and composite output. When I plugged the green plug of the component into the composite input of my dvdo, the picture still had colors instead of beeing black and white so I immediately thought of a bad wiring.
I found another cable with only component output this time, and the test of green output into composite input shows a black and white picture. But the interference is still there.
I don't have that problem with another cable that output composite and s-video (and this cable for sure is a really good quality one). The interferences are so bad that right now I prefer the quality of s-video.
So what do you think ? Is it a bad luck that I found two bad quality component cable, or could it be the console that have a problem ?

Re: Questions about Playstation 2
Have you tried switching the PS2 to rgb? The component cable with composite should also work as an rgbs cable.
Re: Questions about Playstation 2
So I finally received my RGB SCART sync-on-luma with coaxial upgrade from retro_console_accessories and the interferences are gone. Work well with the ps2 set either in rgb or ypbpr.
I'm glad the problem was because of bad cabling and not because the ps2 was faulty.
By the way, great cable from retro_console_accessories. Looks great with OSSC and VP50pro. And MGS1 is just a dithering mess

When you're using linetriple without 'scanlines'; don't hesitate to set Edge Enhancement to abusive negative values (-30, -50, -80! lololol), Fine Details too though maybe not as low.Joelepain wrote:Looks great with OSSC and VP50pro. And MGS1 is just a dithering mess
Out of all the scalers and emu filters/shaders solution I've seen over the years, nothing beat the OSSC+50pro combo IMHO. Sure it can't do the same for PAL and sucks at interlaced transitions, but working fine with only just NTSC/60Hz low res progressive still covers the huge majority of retro games that matter so who cares.

I didn't actually zoom in on the picture when you asked the question, but I get similar patterns on my poor quality composite video sync RGB cable. Pretty sure it's the cable anyway, haven't tested with my (better quality) sync on luma cable yet.
Sucks at interlaced transitions? Are you getting anything else than the 2 second delay (which I attribute to my display) I get on my VP50?Xyga wrote:When you're using linetriple without 'scanlines'; don't hesitate to set Edge Enhancement to abusive negative values (-30, -50, -80! lololol), Fine Details too though maybe not as low.Joelepain wrote:Looks great with OSSC and VP50pro. Yes it's not obvious on the stills because it looks like little dots. But it's not static so in motion it looks like a wave. Very annoying.ZellSF wrote:I didn't actually zoom in on the picture when you asked the question, but I get similar patterns on my poor quality composite video sync RGB cable. Personnally I get 1 seconde with OSSC directly wired to my display, and 3 scondes with OSSC+VP50pro. While 3 secondes is definitely better what the Framemeister can do, and is enough for games that change resolution only for menus, it's still not enough for games like N64 RE2.ZellSF wrote:Sucks at interlaced transitions? Re: Questions about Playstation 2
Dino Crisis is another game that transitions from menu to game play instantly. 2 seconds should be good enough now for most games.

Re: Questions about Playstation 2
That image looks pretty bad! What rev of PS2 is that? I've tried this with two models of slim - 75001 (US), 90000 (JP) and a standard PS3 component cable, and didn't see anything like that, whether in YPbPr or RGsB modes.
