At least we have easy access to NTSC games here. Pretty much everyone else on this forum has to import 60Hz games, while we can just to go a local retro gaming store or go on Craigslist or a yard sale or something and NTSC games are the only thing they will have there. Also, every CRT TV I find supports Japanese consoles no problem.

I know being alive is a much higher priority than getting games running at the correct speed (can't even play games if dead), but it's not like there are no positive things about living here.

Here's a snapshot into one of the demographics spawning some of this violence: The National Socialist Movement

Go mom!

Seriously tho, if it had been a butter knife instead the outcome would have been exactly the same.

"give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" - "give a man a gun and you ..." - yeah, we know how that ends.
Well done, America - again....

Perhaps it could have been avoided, if the daughters had guns.

"It would be horribly tragic if my ability to protect myself or my family were to be taken away," Sheats wrote in March on her Facebook page, "but that's exactly what Democrats are determined to do by banning semi-automatic handguns."

She said before opening fire on her children in the driveway.

Unfortunately human idiocy cannot be banned.
Though this seems like more of a domestic abuse case.

Was gun violence a problem before? Like in the 70's 80's or even 90's?

I was born in the 80's and I don't recall there being so much dumbass killings back then.

I feel society as a whole is teaching people to think they're the most important person in the world. People seem so self absorbed in themselves.... Or maybe I'm just fucking old now haha.

Of course there were. The only difference is that you hear about it much more today. Back before the internet, the only ways to get the news were newspapers, magazines, and TV news - all of which are constrained by pages / time. Now we have the internet (and 24 hour news stations) which allows for unlimited time and length, so you hear about every little thing that happens in every community all over the world. People have always been violent. People will always be violent.

There is less gun violence compared the late 80's (crack epidemic) but less to the 70's. Mass shootings where dip shits pop off people with semi-automatic rifles are of course far higher now. Probably even more than when the LA gang wars were in full swing. The up swing from 2009 is of course, Obama's fault.

...and guns help them to express and direct that violence towards their community all facilitated through an abundance of guns that can be bought from 'retail outlets' and ensured through your rights as a citizen - marvellous situation  If only we could get them to throw jelly at one another instead; not really going to make the news but some people would be happy to watch it - and - there would be less waste of life ;)

Just to put things into perspective, Portland (chosen as it was the first City to come to mind), Oregon and Berlin because it has one of the largest populations within a european capital city:

Portland, Oregon, USA, Population : 583,776, number of gun shops: 36
Berlin, Germany, Population : 3,562,166 , number of gun shops: 7

Population ratio: 6:1 | gun shop ratio: 1:5 - WOW!

Idiotic names used for the Gun shops:

Berlin: 'Soldier of Fortune GmbH'

Oregon: 'Threat Dynamics', ...

Let's put it down to a 'cultural issue' and hope they work it out.

One thing you should keep in mind is that spree shooting, at its core, is an act of suicide. A flashy exciting way to do it, but suicide just the same. If you wanna be a terrorist or exterminate a group of people, you don't put yourself in any major risk. Can't kill people if you're dead, now can you.

Gr, now I'm pissed off that pussy ass bitch Anders dropped his gun and surrendered, knowing he'd get to play Playstation 2 and chat with other Turner Diary loving fucks.

Uh.. back to my point. The population is higher, and we have an underreported suicide epidemic on our hands. Suicide is up like 30% from just ~20 years ago. Reagonomics working as intended.

Surprised this hasn't been bumped yet with all the crazy shit going on this week.... the US is heading toward a melt down.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Two different cops shooting two different folks... now multiple cops being sniped during a protest due to said previous shootings.

Maybe only now the government will try to pass stricter laws for gun control.

Expect public sympathy for BLM to plummet in the aftermath of this. As much as sheltered, middle class white liberals love to virtue signal about how not racist they are, they also love the fact that police will respond to calls in their neighborhood.

Perhaps those leaked messages between BLM leaders have some credence to them, after all. If that is indeed the case, we can expect more of these in coming weeks.

Hit a little close to home, did I?

At the rate things are going, BLM will be hitting pretty close to home. If you ever want to kill some time, do some research as to who exactly is behind the movement so you'll at least know who to thank when you're up for the firing squad.

Not really, people always miss the mark when assuming how 'liberal' I am. Nor have I said a thing about BLM.

Fed up of smug dickheads like you casually using tragedies to make your sardonic points on a forum.
they also love the fact that police will respond to calls in their neighborhood.
Bit of a silly thing to say, implying police will stop responding or cease to exist as an institution.

Have you ever lived in a ghetto area? Police will literally refuse to enter certain parts of big cities in the US precisely because of people committing violence against them.

It's already spread to places with high concentrations of BLM supporters, and you'd best believe that this is going to turn parts of Dallas into Mad Max.
