Are you using the latest version of DivX (the video was done in 5.1.1)?

Well, Play-Asia is now taking preorders for the PS2 version, Radilgy Preshyasu.

Ah, thanks for the heads up. Pretty good timing, actually. It'll spread the shmup releases over a bit and in that time it should be very clear how the game fares.

It looks very... laid back, I think. Not so action-packed. They haven't been able to do very visually exciting explosions and such with their cell-shaded graphics.

I just find it interesting, but not exciting.

According to NCSX, only 4000 copies of DC Rajirugi were pressed.

It makes me wonder how small the release of DC Under Defeat will be... maybe 5000 copies (2000 LE and 3000 regular)?

I have DivX 6.1 installed, and the video will not play for me.

Yeah, I can't get it to play either. WinXP and DIVX 6.1 as well.

What programs have you tried to watch it in?

This is rather odd that some folks aren't getting it to play.

I could not get it to work in Media Player either. But, it works fine if you download the standalone Divx player.

Works fine in Media Player Classic. Looks good but a bit complicated.

EDIT: works fine for me now that I am playing it with the DivX Player. Weird, because I don't have to do that with any of my other .avi shmup movies.

If there will be is a Game Cube release, then why isn't it even listed on Play Asia, considering that it's supposed to come out in March, along with the PS2 rev., which is already on there? :?

If there is indeed a Cube release coming in March, then I may just wait for that-I have the Cube Hori Digital Controller which is more comfortable then the Dreamcast Controller's D-Pad.

Got the vid to work after downloading DIVX 6.1, but it cuts out after around 3 minutes for some reason.

Still, looks interesting. But Why did I have to go for the cheap ass shipping? I'll have to wait till next week to play it.

Yeah, it cuts out at about that time for me, as well. Looks fantastic, though! What is that circular thing around your ship, as you're leeching, so to speak? Looks like you fill up some kind of meter, but I can't tell what it's for. This definately looks better then Chaos Field! :D

There are 2 meters - the one at the bottom is your reflect-barrier and fills as you kill some enemies and kill bullets (some bullets can be shot) and maybe with a bit of swordplay on certian bullets/enemies (still haven't got it all figured out). Once that meter fills, it will say ~OK~ and you can (by pressing a button) use the reflect-barrier that gives you protection and all bullets and stuff get converted into energy for your multipler meter (the meter at the top - if you hover over a big enemy it seems to shoot tons of those little green energy pills up to the multipler meter). Then (while the multipler meter slowly drains) killing enemies will produce more points. I realize this is sort of vague, but I've only got a couple hours into it so far (but plan on getting lots more this weekend).

IMO, it's much better.

I'm still feeling my way around on it but so far it's solid. This one certainly captures the imagination better than Chaos Field, and is far more rewarding playing for straight survival as well. The hitbox feels the right size and it's easy to intuit the location on the ship while moving around.

I did like the soundtrack to Chaos Field better but there's nothing really wrong with this one. Graphically, everything in the foreground is bright and sharp. Telling different types of bullets apart at a glance is no problem. Backgrounds are there and appropriate, but a bit of a mixed bag in terms of texturing.

Some of the bosses are really difficult to not time-out on sometimes, it seems. You really have to get in close with the sword and barrier to take down the lifebar. I guess the object is to just go in with a high multiplier and try to kill it quickly? More fun to try and take off all of the parts before it runs away.

On the whole, it's probably not going to unseat anything from my top 3 for the system, but I can certainly see some serious time being put in. Levels 3 and 4 were amazing until the 4th boss bent me over a table and had his way with me.

I'm waiting for someone to make a webpage or something with the contents of all of the text-messages. I love the way the filler messages change with each playthrough, real personality addition :D

llabnip and nzero's impressions are very encouraging. Nice to hear this one shaped up nicely and that milestone may be a real contender after all. :) Cel shaded bubble bullets and picking apart bosses = win for me. Think I'll order this in a week or so when I get paid again.

edit: Just watched the level one video. Definitely buying it now, that looks like a lot of fun, nicely populated levels. Cel shaded tanks and mecha. Love it.

Although this is a bit early in my play experience (just over an hour), I must say that I am MUCH happier with this release than with Chaos Field (DC & GC)! I really like the scoring system--from what I can understand at this point--and the overall style of the game is impressive. I'll post more when I've a better handle on the title, but I must say that I am quite pleased with my purchase so far.

The shield feature to build up your point bonus seems to mimick Shikigami-no Shiro to an extent--you actually have to risk "contact" with enemies and bullets (of certain varieties) to build up your bonus meter. The hit box seems to be fair. So far I like it!

And is it just me, or does the "sword" feature feel much more a natural part of the game than in Chaos Field? I don't think Choas Field is that bad, but it just feels like Rajirugi is panning out to be Milestone's first astute release.

And just think...a month from now we'll have Under Defeat to enjoy! :D

Are we sure that this is getting a Cube port?? Like I said earlier, there is no mention of a Cube port on Play Asia's site, but a PS2 port is up there. :?:

Thanks for sharing those clips davidholliss! Seeing those vids has got me thinking about getting a copy. The gameplay looks really interesting. I might enjoy it.

I received the game today, played a couple of games. Could only get pass Stage 3 mid-boss. Need some more playing. "123 Laser" is too weak, Vulcan and Bubble is good, especial Bubble.

But since I also received the MushiHimeSama DVD today :D , I don't have much time play it...

One more thing, I notice that the short dialogue at beginning of each stage before the action starts could be turned off during ship selection screen. Press X (I am using Joystick) to toggie though "accept communication" & "Don't accept communication".

I finally figured out what happened to the video file I uploaded... it got corrupted during transfer. :(

Thankfully, davidhollis was able to recompress the video and remove the corruption from it. Thanks. :)

I really dig the visual style of it, and the laser for the ship looks like Ifumi's from Chaos Field, who incidentally was my character in that game. I don't know about the scoring system, the charging of the shield and hovering over ships seems kinda boring, but it looks like it would be fun just to play for survival.

My only question about this game is: what does it matter if you beat the boss or time out on it? I have beaten the stage 1 boss and also timed out on the stage 1 boss with no noticeable differenes in score. Please explain if somebody can. Thanks.

i don't own a DC and don't plan to get one for some reasons. Therefore, I'll get the PS2 or the GC version.

In theory, should the PS2 version be superior, or should I wait for the GC one ?

Thank you.
