Lm1881 Pixel shift

Post by Pasky »

I knew whenever you used a LM1881 as a sync separator or booster the picture shifts over slightly (forgot if it's left or right). Does anyone know the actual technical reason this occurs and if it can be reversed with a reasonably simple method?

It should be left but depends on the signal path. The sync is slightly delayed after separation which means the picture data is occurring sooner relative to before. Should be possible to delay the video signal by an equivalent amount depending on what you're doing with it. A lot of consoles aren't particularly precise to begin with though.
