Considering the first power-up is "Force" it's clearly a crossover between Gradius and R-Type, with Delta being the Delta Attack from Delta.

Also from David Production's JoJo anime - not a direct reference per se, but Stardust Crusaders Ep40 adds a nice nod to the classic Xevious logo. The original manga scene uses a generic font - I guess someone's a fan?







(the games actually played parody F-Zero and a typical baseball title. Stand-powered caravan mode could be fun, but shooter TASes do tend to get boring quickly. )

The Jojo's Bizarre Adventure manga originally debuted in the 1980s, back when Gradius was at the height of its popularity, so it's not surprising to see that reference in its anime adaptation. It's a bit like that Gradius homage in the infamous hentai La Blue Girl.

Viacom got it removed. So as well for some Youtube Poop Videos if I remember well. Indeed, Viacom is strict in copyright and should learn fair use. Bandai might serve the same purpose.

In episode 6 of the TV series "City Hunter 3" (late 1980s), the bottle says "Proco Tiat" on it, which is Taito Corp backwards, and is also a reference to Darius.

That looks like a silver hawk (not "the" silver hawk) on the bottle too.

That's like the reverse of CAVE in Ketsui.EVAC.
