My game Shufflet is on Greenlight!

Post by Pixel_Outlaw »

I'm finally pushing the button and releasing my Puzzle/Logic game Shufflet today! :D

This community has always valued the kind of games I grew up on so I'd like to post my announcement here.
I've created Shufflet as a short project to get some cash moving so I can eventually put a Windows/Linux shmup or two out in a few months.
(Especially for the Linux world, as we're kind of short on Japanese developers making shmups)

Shufflet plays differently than most puzzle games. You shift entire rows and columns making small groups.
The key to playing well is to think deeply (and quickly) and make the largest number of groups possible before hitting the "Go" button (or spacebar).
So, making huge scores is up to your skill at arranging the pieces before hitting "Go!".

I only have a handful of days before my game gets drowned out by other games on the front page, please toss a vote my way if you like the look of it.

Here is the Steam Greenlight link:

Oh, and if you *really* like the look of it, maybe post a mention on other groups and let me know.
Here is the Outlaw Games twitter, facebook, and dev blog.

I'm not sure what other communities might like it.
My biggest concern is people mistaking it for a casual "match 3" and tearing it apart.
As always my friends, Fly high and Shoot the Core!

Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Looks cool, good luck with it. World needs more arcade-style puzzle games that don't involve microtransactions ..

Thanks for your kind words!

I think the hardest thing so far is trying to sell something in the era of Candy Crush ruining people's opinion of puzzle games.
I wanted to do something unique with game play, people see "rows of colored things" and write it off.

Pardon the bump.

Well after some colorful feedback from the Steam community I've reworked the graphics and redone my original video.

I really feel like I'm fighting damage done by casual mobile puzzle games.
I wanted to create something that was up to standard arcade level challenge.
I grew up playing games like Sega's Columns, Taito's Bust a Move, and Klax.

Your game looks great. Interesting idea and nice, detailed and colorful spritework.

What's with the poor logo though? Awful looking font on a gradient background, really?

Thanks for pointing that out. I think I agree.
I've redesigned my logo, tried to do some pixel art but it just didn't come out the way I'd have liked.

I went for a simplified vector design and used the colors from the game board's hard mode.
Outside is the same color as the board buttons inside is just a lighter shade of the purple background.

I've uploaded the change to Steam and I'll be working on other things for a while. :o
