Hi all,
Am interested in picking up a small PVM. I was looking at the PVM-8045Q. Most of the listing, scanned manual, repair manuals and even the picture at the back of the monitor indicates that it's only operational with AC 100V.
There was only one Sony brochure that said AC: 100 to 240 V (UL approved for 120 V operation). Does this mean that it does actually support 220-240V albeit unofficially ?
I am residing in Asia where the power is 220-240V so I am a bit hesitant. I don't really want to run it off a transformer...
I can probably test it with a 220-240V UPS and I will know if it runs or blows up but I would rather not as well.
Either that or should I just look for a DC adapter (XLR, 4-pin) instead ?
Any ideas ?
Thank you!

Re: Regarding PVM-8045Q
I was always under the impression that these PVMs were universal voltage. Check the sticker on the back of the monitor. It should say AC 100-240V. Older PVMs had a manual voltage select switch, but this model should be automatic.

Re: Regarding PVM-8045Q
The PVM made it all the way intact to Asia !
Well sadly, the sticker information at the back is correct. It operates only on 120 AC sadly.
Plugging it into a 220-240 AC UPS did nothing. No power light came on. I could hear a slight sound (which i guess was a sign of life
)
I dug up a transformer, hook it up to the UPS again (Just to be safe :p) and Bingo ! The PVM 8045Q is able to power up properly !
I did open up the panel to have a look to see if there was some sort of switch to flip like some arcade power supply but sadly I didn't see much nor did I wanted to open up more.
In any case, I am going to go look for an XLR 4-pin DC adapter instead.

Re: Regarding PVM-8045Q
Just some extra info if anyone is interested in picking up one of these. The model that runs on AC 100-240V is the PVM-9045QM
Basically all the series PVM-80XX (and PVM-50XX) are 100-120V and the PVM-90XX (and PVM-60XX) have AC 100-240V.
Despite what the Model number says, the size of the screen is the same
(8-inch and 5-inch respectively.)
I also went with a Transformer instead of the XLR-4 pin DC Adapter as the cost of getting one of those adapter was so much higher.
