Dead Raiden board Need advice

Post by Dylan1CC »

I recently ordered a Raiden I board off eBay from a seller "As is," it was only $40 so I couldn't resist, big mistake. Board seems to be completely dead, no display on my monitor, no audio, board looks pretty dusty and not in the greatest shape. I have no electrical experience at all (my supergun set up was custom made for me by a former member back in 2001 and recently got the urge to get the old beast out of storage and play some Progear) and am game for any tips and would be willing to send it to be repaired if it's salvageable, or should I just accept I made a poor choice? I have an Aerofighters board on the way from the same seller, hopefully that's not dead too. I'm in the upper Midwest, any fans or services I should know about? Anyways, here are some pics:

JAMMA connector and caps/fuses not looking good:

Nothing, I hooked up my phoenix'd Progear board just in case and it booted instantly of course:

Start with the power rail on the PCB. Is everything being fed (voltage) correctly? What's the amp load on that PCB? Is it drawing power? How about the voltage across those Rubicons?

No idea, you're talking to someone who has no experience with PCB hardware troubleshooting. If I had the equipment and know how to answer those questions I probably wouldn't have to make this thread. Thanks though, I'll forward that list on if I ever find someone who can possibly help me fix the board.
