The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Civilization Revolution 2+ is coming this week, but it's been out in Asia for ages (retail even). Except another solid game plagued by port issues.
Day of the Tentacle doesn't look it's best on the Vita. Font scaling seems slightly off. Not a huge deal, but a bit annoying. Perfectly implemented cross save though.
Have been playing XCom some. Performance really is terrible. Still you get used to it pretty quickly, what's more jarring is that the audio hasn't been given enough priority to avoid frequent pops. Then again it is a very quick port of a mobile port of a game that aimed for 30 FPS on consoles, so all that considered it's pretty playable. I'm having fun with it.
On the subject of XCom I looked into Steamworld Heist. I thought Steamworld Dig looked terrible boring and when I heard "Heist" I disregarded their next game as one of those multiplayer only titles. I don't know why, games about heists just seems to have been mostly multiplayer focused.
Steamworld Heist is neither the same type of game as Steamworld Dig nor a multiplayer experience though... It's basically 2D XCom Lite and it's supposedly eventually making it's way to other platforms including Vita (for now it's 3DS only). Can't wait.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Axiom Verge is now out, a late port of one of 2015's best games.
Vita port is.. well decent. not particularly good or bad. I've tried it some and played it all the way to going back to Kur after defeating the third boss where it crashed. Of course I saved a few rooms away so no big deal. Then I played all the way to where you get the grappling hook then I died, which wasn't nice so I quit for now.
Framerate is generally smooth and seems to be aiming for 60 FPS. Outdoor areas are a bit less good, secret areas and the third boss (probably the last one too) are terrible. In the PC version you can look for secret areas by a scanline effect. On the Vita version, if the framerate drops in half: a secret area is nearby. I should note that secret areas are a very minor part of the game. Edit: oh and first time through ukkin-na is pretty terrible.
It introduces a full second more of loading between areas and a few seconds more for tileset transitions. Not really all that noticeable.
Cross-buy, but sadly not cross-save.
Obviously the game's pixel graphic looks gorgeous on a Vita OLED and the game controls very well on a zero input lag display. Definitely recommended for anyone with a Vita who wants a metroidvania game. Really hoping for a physical release via Limited Run Games.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
FINALLY they made Ys : Memories of Celceta playable on PS TV (it's been a coupla months actually, but I haven't seen anyone here talk about it, so I will do just that!)
Goddamit, this has been a long hard road out of hell. I'm a huge Ys fan, and having MOC out but not being able to play it on my TV has been nothing short of torture.
In fact I have been holding off buying a PS TV because of that.
But now I ordered one, along with physical copies of Ys : MOC and Muramasa Rebirth, and I'm stoked as hell
Still sucks that not all Vita games can be played on the PS TV, though

Did it also get a patch? Or just marked for compatibility? did you have to download anything or just press the refresh button on the live area?
Finished Axiom Verge on the Vita. Final boss unsurprisingly had the same framerate issues the third one did, but I did have to dodge a few projectiles (despite my plans to just stand perfectly still and fire up the entire fight) and it went fine. Also entered one of the secret areas, no surprise: the framerate stayed terrible and the CRT shader they're using (for the secret areas) does not look good on a Vita.
No more crashes though and outside those few exceptions, framerate was pretty smooth.

hitting that refresh button will do the trick. If it still doesn't work : first update your firmware, then hit the refresh button.

Just don't do it.... buying a Vita TV is a huge mistake and a waste.... save yourself the time and stick with the Vita instead.FinalBaton wrote: In fact I have been holding off buying a PS TV because of that.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
It's been available for as low as 20$. Even if you only find one game you want to play on a big screen, I wouldn't call 20$ a huge mistake.Shelcoof wrote:Just don't do it.... buying a Vita TV is a huge mistake and a waste.... save yourself the time and stick with the Vita instead.FinalBaton wrote: In fact I have been holding off buying a PS TV because of that.

That's disappointing (in Japan, PSTV was added with a patch that increased performance).hitting that refresh button will do the trick. If it still doesn't work : first update your firmware, then hit the refresh button.
Oh if you're interested in playing Ys: Memories of Celceta on a large screen, you should probably know that there's a beta English patch for the (sort of bad) PC version.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Yep. I will gladly pay $20 to play these 2 kickass games on my TV. It's totally worth it even for 2 games. And I'll probably buy a couple more (including Ys 8 and Bloodstained : Ritual of the Night; I don't have a PS4 and don't plan on buying one for a while).Shelcoof wrote:For 20$ is a go then lol

Ok just got Muramasa Rebirth. The game is... god it's amazing :O
So much fun. It's so snappy and chaining your attacks feel great. the move list is just deep enough that you have fun using them all and can concentrate on creating custom combos.
And the graphics are so damn gorgeous. Just putting down your controller and looking at the scene is thrilling

How UMD-Passport work in the ps jap store?
It's only necessary to pay and buy the game online? Or you have to check you own the real UMD in any way?
Really interested in this because I want to play goku makaimura kai (and some other jap exclusives) in my ps vita

I know I've given Friendly a hard time over it, but I think the Vita has really come into its own these past few years.
Really gotten away from just being a visual novel and PSX2 port machine.

PSX Vita: Slightly more popular than Color TV-Game system. Almost as successful as the Wii U.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
I recently bought a North American Vita, but haven't done much with it other than turn it on once and buy a few chip games from the U.S. and Japan. However, I have some questions, as it's not a user-friendly handheld when it comes to getting the DLC. Here goes...
I bought a copy of Hotline Miami from Japan that comes with DLC. Switching regions/accounts on the Vita looks to be a bitch, so I was wondering if I could just download it using a Japanese account on the PS3 and then transfer it to the Vita. Is that even possible? I'm guessing it isn't since the Vita is on the North American account with a memory card that's formatted to that account. I'm also guessing I need another memory card anyway.
HALP!

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Problem is, digital content is region locked on Vita and is only playable from the account it was purchased and downloaded on to. Your Vita won't even acknowledge Japanese content if you're currently logged into anything other than a Japanese account.
You can switch between accounts freely on the same memory card though, but it is still a nuisance as you have to format it (though you won't loose any data as long as you don't choose to wipe it clean) each fucking time.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Thank you for answering.
So, in order to log into a Japanese account with the Vita, it's my understanding that I have to format the whole thing to factory settings every time and that the memory card is wiped out unless I back it up using a PC or laptop with their download manager and latest firmware. Any time I want to switch accounts, I have to go through this pain-in-the-arse routine. If I don't want to go through the whole back-up procedure, then I will need another memory card. Basically, I'd need a memory card for each region account (North America, Europe, Japan, Asia, etc.).
Wow. No wonder I haven't touched this thing
As the Angry Video Game Nerd would say, "THIS IS ASS!"

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
yeah having multiple memory cards negate the backing up step, but it is still a tedious process and one I haven't bothered doing for several years now. A real back-step to Sony's console counterparts which have a relatively painless account switching/ sharing process.
Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Yeah, stick with one region (I recommend US) for digital PS Vita content, switching regions is really inconvenient. At least physical games are region free.
SteamWorld Heist is supposedly coming the 31st. Can't wait, though what they said in the announcement video worries me a bit: the PS4 version runs at 60 FPS. It's really weird to leave the Vita version out of that statement. I know it's a 3DS port and should run well, but still worried.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
I already have some Japanese games that come with codes to download the rest of the game, so it looks as if I'll have to go through this mess. What I'm wondering is, does the PC download manager have problems with DLC and games from other regions? This was never explained in the instructions.
Say, for example, I downloaded 10 games and DLC from the North American region. I then back it up into the PC using the download manager. I switch to the Japanese region and download 10 games and DLC. If I wanted to go back to playing the North American games, how would the download manager recognise the games and DLC from the different regions? Are they stored in separate folders?

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
So is there such a thing as relatively inexpensive decently-sized memory cards for the Vita yet? Are they still proprietary, or do other manufacturers produce them now as well?
Thinking of upgrading, perhaps.
Thanks in advance...

Hahahah... nope

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Today's a good day for Vita (and PS4 owners): Odin Sphere Leifthrasir and Steamworld Heist.
Both look and perform fantastically on the Vita. They're both cross-save. Sadly only Steamworld Heist is cross-buy.
Steamworld Heist doesn't seem to be 60 FPS, but feels plenty smooth anyway. Steamworld Heist also doesn't work on the PSTV yet, but I assume it's a mistake that will get resolved in hours (or days at most).

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
I finally got around to turning on and activating my Vita. I have two 64GB memory cards because I dunno I just got two of those. However, the damn thing baaaaaarely connects to my PSN+ account. It keeps giving me a time out error code. None of the troubleshooting has worked so far. That's NOT a good look.

That's weird. Can you provide a bit more info on the connection issues?Bitter Almonds wrote:I finally got around to turning on and activating my Vita. I'd have similar issues lets say trying to access the PSN store. If I leave it idle too long I would have to reboot the app.
Also if you have multiple Vitas with the same user account only one Vita can be connected at all times. So you log into one the other one automatically logs off.
Not sure if any of that will help with anything though.

I click on anything in the PSN store and it gives me a connection error prompt with a code. I was trying to buy and download a game, and the piece of shit wouldn't connect.

Psn is pretty crappy to be honest.

It's been that way so long I think it's intentional by Sony. They probably don't want you to buy stuff?

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
PSN is weirdly shitty for consoles that are pretty good. With the PS4, it took forever and a day to get it to accept my credit card. Everyone takes my credit card; I even called the credit card company and the bank, and they told me the problem is not on their end that I can go ahead and use it on PSN. Yet, it kept on failing to process. This is the sort of problem I'd expect of early Internet connectivity in the late 90s - not 20 freakin' 16.
Oh, and it doesn't support the YouTube app anymore. It's as if sorny wanted to destroy the vita and forget all about it...

Good thing we still have some good third party support for the vita.
Several upcoming titles I just recently pre ordered.
Can't say the same for my 3ds. Which is actually very surpising.

The last generation's handhelds - the PSP and NDS - were way better than this shit.
