I was recently gifted a Sony KV-35S42. It only has Composite and S-video inputs, but it was free and it has a bright, mostly problem free tube. I do notice some slight convergence issues and some "noise" in some situations on the Wii in S-video though, and of course much more in composite. I'm used to my PVMs and JVC pro monitors (though the size is a big plus for multiplayer and party games on Wii), so I am hoping I can improve the picture a bit.
My question is, would a nicer (3D digital) comb filter help improve the S-video picture? I've only seen it marketed toward composite. If so, what would be the cheapest/easiest way to add a really good filter to the chain? I would of course prefer a component ready SD TV, but thrift store searches haven't landed anything in half as good shape as this set's PQ, and after setting up this beast (at 183 pounds plus matching stand it wasn't the easiest thing to do), I'd much rather try to improve on the picture I have rather than give up on it just because it's missing component.

Re: Comb Filter options for S-video?
luma and chroma are already seperated on s-video signals.

Re: Comb Filter options for S-video?
To expand on that: comb filters try to deal with the artifacts caused by chroma and luma sharing the same signal. Because S-Video has them as separate signals, they don't serve any purpose for s-video.
