Gradius Deluxe Pack (PSX) screwed up on PS2?

Just picked up the Gradius Deluxe Pack, and found to my chagrin that Gradius II is incredibly slow on the first two levels, causing the music to end before you reach the boss. Then suddenly on stage 3 it runs at the normal speed. I'm playing on a PS2 (slim, ceramic white) so could that be the reason? Anybody have a similar experience?

Took me a few seconds to realise this is Toaplan Shooting Battle. In this case, Kyukyuku Tiger and Twin Cobra run in slow-motion on PS2. Tiger Heli on the other hand works perfectly.

Gradius I work fine, but not Gradius II....

And yet the PSOne version of Gradius Delux Pack is better than the Saturn version. I feel that the saturn version got some films skipped.

Another game that doesn't work: "Horned Owl" (Jap); it doesn't even boot.

It's a good idea not to get rid of your old PS1 consoles.

I found that Rakugaki Showtime runs incorrectly on a PS2 as well. The music is completely off and the AI seems to be over-clocked (it makes the game about 3 times harder).

I can't get Internal Section to run on my PS2 . . .gets to some jap text screen that looks like some kind of warning and then . . .

. . .black screen.

Anybody else had a problem with this . . .

Do PS games still exhibit anti-mod behavior on PS2s? IS was released late enough where pretty much all games had anti-mod protection (generally denoted with an icon on the back of the case). If so and if you're playing on a modded system, that could be the reason...

kennyrh, Internal Section doesn`t want to work for me too (black screen). Looks like its too hard to emulate, because of its special use of CD`s soundtracks, I had big problems with it when trying to use ePSXe emulator, too much slowdown without any visible reason and it slows down like a hell in the boss battle (but sometimes its almost OK). Only old VGS can run it normally (good sound, good speed), but VGS runs in low resolution only

The game looks too bad (in low resolution) to play it.
