There's so much music you still can't get unless you get a hard copy. I went to a flea market in my home town a while ago, and I was almost floored when seeing how much GREAT music were there for mere peanuts. Even the CD cases looked like new. Someone used to love those CDs.

I like to buy CDs when I can, although once I rip them to FLAC they typically just stay in my collection unless I plan on listening to them in the car. Vinyl is also a fun format to collect but I never actually listen to the few records that I have.

This is one of those games that plays the US version on a Genesis, complete with Renovation copyright. I'm not sure if there's any differences other than the copyright on the title screen, though.

Saw a classic Commodore 1084 monitor at a local auction site and decided to grab it. Does RGB beautifully. I've been considering getting rid of one of my CRT TVs that I rarely use which would allow me to re-configure the gaming area a bit, this facilitates that. If nothing else, it's a good backup. For €50 + shipping, not bad.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Last quotes I read said that Japan still sells 80% of it's music on CD. O.o

When I pay for recorded music, I usually buy a CD. Rarely happens anymore, though.

I'm so glad I bought this! The behind-the-scenes documentary is almost as entertaining as the movie itself. Everyone looks like they're having the time of their life. Also one shot I was sure was CGI turned out to be a really good practical effect.

I'm just gonna say that I can actually hear the difference between CDs/FLACs and 320kbps (like paid Spotify, which my parents and I have).

Earlier today, I had a CD and the same album (and same master) open on Spotify to compare them in Audacity or something. I thought to myself that I was listening to a CD, and thought that it sounded a little less clear than I remembered (and I played it about an hour earlier). I then checked and found that Spotify (and it was on high quality mode) was the one playing (don't ask me how I forgot). This happened a couple of times before. Every other time, when I think to myself that I'm listening to a CD, I don't think it sounds less clear than I remember and I'm actually listening to it. I never thought I was listening to a CD when I was actually listening to Spotify without noticing it didn't sound as good.

If you think you can tell the difference, I would recommend taking a blind test with a few different songs. To eliminate any possible variables that could come from streaming, download/rip the mp3 files instead of using Spotify. Coming from someone who tries to download in lossless when possible, very few people can tell the difference between FLAC and a high-quality (at least 256kbps) mp3 file, and even then you'll need some really good gear to consistently be able to tell.

320kps is shit. The only way you couldn't tell the difference, is if you are using a really basic sound set up. Which MANY people do, so goes the myth that MP3s are "acceptable".

Wait, I realize I have actually read in the sense meaning: "CDs, FLACs and 320kbps".

Despite using "/" muself very often.

Anyway thinking back about that, you really can play WAV from most decent digital players today even though it's a waste of memory space.
I still don't see the point with Discman, what's most important is the quality of the amp, it's power output, and most importantly quality headphones.
There are plenty of better solutions that make much more sense today. Oh well, whatever.

Minzoku and I just became home-owners.

We've spent the past 3 weeks moving (essentially). It's gonna be another several weeks before everything is fully unpacked and put somewhere... I think we'll be able to hold a shmupmeet here next month.

Flac all day. If you can't tell the difference, your listening equipment probably ain't that good.

To keep it on topic, i just bought a Fiio x5 2nd gen and 2 200gb mini sd cards. Finally i can stop carrying cd's around in my car. This thing is just so sweet. High quality music and huge storage capacity all in one tiny package.

I'm always really skeptical when people say they can tell the difference. Granted, my rig isn't particularly high-end, since I'm just using my Vsonic VSD3S and Xonar U3 amp/dac until I can get a replacement for my busted Brainwavz HM5.

Fiio stuff is sweet though. I've considered picking up an X1 as a replacement for my M3; It's a neat little player, but it has some quirks that keep me from recommending it to most people. I also have an EO6 amp that I used to use with my phone.

No, we're on the east coast (we live in Maryland). Prices in this area are getting kinda crazy, but we managed to stumble upon a really good deal.

And thanks, GP and Skykid. ^_^

Property is the only worthwhile investment for regular sub-human folk like us who don't exist in the concorde plane of the elite. If you can get on that ladder, you should.

Unfortunately in England - specifically the south - late 90s and millennial kids are now officially out of the equation for soliciting mortgages for homes larger than a garage - and even that might be a stretch. They need luck, good fortune or a miracle to even think about it.

I'll be another one (homeowner) very soon, though that'll happen little thanks to my efforts, but lots because parents before they hit 70 can give their kids some (if all) of their property and avoid everyone paying huge inheritance taxes later. They can still live in until they die, it's just switching owners on paper. Though in my case I'll get to live in one directly.

So it's better not to be born in a poor family indeed, because it's said now on average in France to have access to even mediocre property you need to be at least senior executive or profitable business owner level if you hope any bank to lend you a single €. In reality anyway it's mostly retirees with a good pension who buy land/housing, for them or their kids, if you are on their level of income, banks are then more generous than ever, be just below their standards though and you don't exist, it's like the average middle class is gone completely.

Kind of happy to have the housing worry gone and I was fucking tired to live in flats anyway (asshole neighbours everywhere) I'll have space for animals and growing stuff, it'll be quiet (no noisy pub on the other side of my street), but it's a place that hasn't been occupied in decades, with ancient village ruins etc.
LOTS of fucking work, but it's okay I kind of like doing that sort of stuff.
Might turn it into a summer B&B when I'm done, since it's located in a fairly important nature/hiking/vacation spot (don't care, no kids, I can live and work 3 or 4 months in a caravan or something, as long as I make money :p)

I'm currently in the process of trying to buy a house myself. The housing market around here is kind of ridiculous right now. To find anything of any reasonable size within the price range we're looking for requires living 40 miles away from work, and virtually everything that isn't obviously overpriced moves so quickly you have basically no time to think about anything. Oddly enough, I think our best bet is going to end up being new construction, even though it means we'd have to wait until November for our house to be completed.

*sorry for the big pics, but I want people to be able to decipher the tapes' titles*

So, here we go : I am stoked as hell. I just bought a huge lot of anime VHS. Yes, VHS

I honestly didn't thought I would be buying those again. But when you stumble upon a lot like this, well, it becomes a no-brainer.
Plus, I have a setup that does a decent job with VHS (a Sony SVO pro-grade player, and an RGB crt monitor).

The sheer amount of stuff you get for that low amount you pay, is what's interesting with VHS, of course. And the lot below of 38 tapes cost me a grand total of $9.50 Canadian (so like $8 US). That is insane value! That's like 25c Canadian/ tape.

But what's particularly interesting is that 1 : I currently have none of those ovas/movies/episodes, and 2: there's actually a majority of those wich I was actually interested in peeping :

Gall Force - I'm a huge Ken'ichi Sonoda fan and I've been interested in giving this series a shot

Dirty Pair movies - I'm like the biggest Dirty Pair fan there is, lol. So I'm ecstatic to have a copy of Project Eden, a great film.

Metal Skin Panic MAD X-01 - seent it and wanted a physical copy of it

Kimagure Orange Road - With the Kickstarter-funded reprint going on, I researched it and became very curious about this manga/anime. So I'm quite happy to have an anime episode to peep

Windaria - just discovered that one and I am head over heel with the artstyle, wanted a copy real bad

Iczer-one - this is a recommendation from HappyConsoleGamer on Youtube, and I trust his anime taste like a motherfucker. He also influenced some other interest of mine in this list

Plastic Little - someone recommended this so I was curious

Wanna-Be's - seems like my jam, since I like Dirty Pair so much

Project A-Ko - been wanting to watch that one for a while but never got around to it for some reason. Now I have a physical copy and it's AWESOME!

And of course having a copy of SF2 and Ninja Scroll is really nice!

I have various degrees of interest in the rest, but I'm still excited to watch them. But the ones I listed above? TOTALLY stoked!

It's crazy man, it's like, all these anime I've been looking for recently, are all together in this massive lot! I really lucked out here

So, here's the stuff :
