Hello,
I would be eternally grateful if someone could help me get my 2 newly acquired Sony BVM monitors working, as I have spent hours trying to figure out how to get a stable synced image with no luck.
I have a Sony BVM 2011P and BVM 2010C and have tried connecting the following devices:
- a PC Engine via SCART
- Wii via SCART
- PS1 via SCART & composite
- Megadrive via SCART,
- Soft15kHz enabled PC via UMSA SCART
- DVD player via SCART
The image I get from the SCART to BNC cable appears to be not synced. I have the RGB plugs connected to the INPUT RGB sockets and the yellow BNC plug connected to EXT Sync. I have input set to RGB mode and I am using 75 ohm terminators on the inputs and EXT SYNC ports. The test grid works fine on both monitors so I know the tube is ok.
This is a video of the image I get with my PS1:

I am using this cable from retrogamingcables.co.uk. The lead works fine on my PVM 2044QM.

What I am confused about is the 2010C was working and seemed to sync fine but then something happened (or I tweaked something I shouldn't have) and now it isn't. To me, it doesn't make sense that both monitors would be faulty.
Is it possible to tweak the wrong pot which would end up in the image looking like this? I have tweaked each pot to try and fix the situation but I am worried I have done something that would mean I can't get a stable image.
I have tried a factory reset on the 2011P via the menu but that didn't help.
If anybody can offer any advice what I am doing wrong that would be amazing!

Can you adjust the V hold somehow?

Hi nissling
There doesn't seem to be a vhold on the BVMs, unlike the PVMs (unless I am mistaken).
Thanks for the suggestion

Re: Sony BVM Sync issues
In addition to setting the input to RGB you have to toggle the sync from internal to external. Did you do this ?

Hi Fudoh,
Yes, I select external sync when using the SCART RGBS cable. I forgot to mention that.
When I tested a composite input I selected internal sync, plugged the composite into the A input and pressed CODED mode instead of RGB.

I took some photos of how I am connecting RGB to the BVMs in case anybody can spot anything I am doing wrong.

Re: Sony BVM Sync issues
well hi, i wrote you on youtube when in found your video. You didn't reply but now i have found your thread here and there's no escape, HAHA!
sooo .. first i'm quite suprised that noone in this thread mentioned composite sync / raw sync in comparison to composite video as sync! The cable you bought has no built-in sync stripper, has it? And you also don't use a sync strike from arcadeforge? I have found some mixed opinions about if a specific BVM model needs csync (=raw sync) or it works with composite video as sync. With your cable you just have composite video as sync, no csync. So there is a BIG chance that you got it to work with this cable
https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/fem ... m-monitors
or a sync strike
http://arcadeforge.net/Scaler-and-Strik ... e::15.html
BUT... and there's a huge BUTT ... the thing is, i own a BVM 2011P myself. And i started exactly like you, tried it with with composite, didn't work. Then i bought the cable with a sync stripper... and it DIDN'T work as well! And then I didn't share no expenses and even bought a sync strike additionally ... and i f****** didn't work either!
So i have found a different solution .... i bought a BNC-T-adaptor. I plugged it in the connector of the green-channel... i connected the green-cable and the sync-cable to the BNC-T-adaptor ... and finally (important!) switched the BVM from external to INTERNAL sync. SYNC. STABLE. WORKS. hf.
P.S.: if you have found a working solution for external sync instead of the SoG-route i went, then i'll be delighted hearing it since i would prefer it. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply l0rd m0rd. I ended up getting a refund on the BVM as the ebay seller was good enough to offer it.
Cheers

Re: Sony BVM Sync issues
I just want to share my experience with setting up a Sony BVM-1910, in case anyone runs into similar issues.
My experience was similar to L0rd M0rd when connecting 240p and 480i consoles via SCART (or J21) ->BNC component adapter. Paying extra for a sync cleaner circuit in the adapter didn't fix my issues. What I needed was a simple BNC T-adapter (two female to male). I plugged in the sync and green cables into the T adapter that went into the 'G' input and now everything looks beautiful. This old-ass BVM still looks gorgeous.

sorry for the shit writing, I'm at work
