Great run.
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Yeah, I've noticed this as well with my average scores. I'm scoring ~25% less per level than I did before the update, and I'm fairly certain that at least the theory about the Flash multiplier depleting faster is correct. Regardless, based on the tweets you found, it sounds to me that the way it works post-patch is the way it's supposed to be.spadgy wrote:Well, I did the update, and I've noticed something strange. There appears to have been a tweak to one of two things that has impacted the scoring. Either the Flash multiplier is now depleting just a shade faster. Or the Flash multiplier remains the same, but enemy's individual multipliers are depleting faster with time. I'm certainly suddenly scoring less, and consistently, but playing exactly the same way.
I think Moss' three tweets (1, 2, 3) from March 18th, confirm something is up, and that the leaderboard will soon reset... though I confess getting that by running the Tweets through Google Translate.
I lost controller input while playing a few times pre-patch, but it thankfully hasn't happened after the patch, and I've played a lot since then.
Though the one problem that is still bugging me a bit is that a couple of the achievements aren't unlocking for me, even though I know for a fact I've met the requirements for them (one of them even shows 100% progress, yet is still locked). Still, this is a very minor complaint.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Played this a bit today at a friend's place. Generally pretty OK. I still like Raiden 3 more, but this might be more interesting than RD4 to me. The first stage or two in RDV is quite a bit too busy in the background, making visibility really poor, which is pretty annoying. In later stages I've noticed tanks literally materializing out of nowhere... fairly confusing. Additionally tanks seem to be able to shoot as soon as they've spawned, so they'll shoot when they're obscured by other things (in at least one instance, there's a group of 3 tanks that gets at least 2 shots off before they're even visible at all!). Bosses are kind of all over the place, some are cool some are mediocre. Weapons are cool, though I'm not particularly a fan of the new power up system (don't hate it, just prefer the old one). Seemed quite long. Normal got to a reasonable difficulty after 20 minutes, Very Hard was actually a really nice difficulty right off the bat, which was a really pleasant surprise.
Overall, very far from a system seller for me, but not bad. Would play again.

Wow thanks for those newer videos. I do like the look of this game after the early stages. And never-ending battleships are my weakness.
I may have to pick this up. One of my buddies has the console and loves 'shooty games' (as he calls them
), so I'll be able to play it there for the time being.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Soon. The only reason I would get it again is to see the story info translated to English
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Imported my copy this week from Amazon.jp (which is amazing btw if you live in the USA, no more middleman, decent prices and 3 day $7.00 shipping!). Overall, despite the lack of a tateable screen and some weak visuals, the gameplay is surprisingly solid. Feels a lot like 3 to me. The side panels are annoying but I actually don't mind the stat tracking and the amount of info available at a glance. The "cheer" system is a little silly but I found myself enjoying seeing little updates of people who were playing at the same time as me. The fact that it actually does something for you in regards to a temporary ultra shot is sweet. The sparseness of weapon drops takes some getting used to but I feel like Moss realizes that players tend to gravitate/stick with one type of shot. This new "level up" system works better for those people because you're not constantly dodging the weapon drops and can instead focus on building up the one you like more.
Music is sort of a mixed bag of traditional sounding Raiden music and forgettable rock/techno. Difficulty ramps up nicely after stage 3.
Aside to the visuals and the lack of tate, I'm more satisfied than I expected to be. Feels like a different take on R3, and that's good for me.

I had to come on here and say I'm surprised, after finally seeing the level, that there wasn't a more epic stage transition, or visual effect of some kind (like a high-speed segment) to go along with the "vocaloid" portion of Fortress of Philosophy. Ah well, it's good enough to ascend the shaft and clear out the hallways.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Does anyone hope that Moss will upgrade the current version of Raiden V?
Ws told me, this version is pretty ridiculous for scoring play, you pass the whole stage and you cannot get a high score, comparing to other person get a high score in stage 7 with old version

The leaderboards have now been reset, and the game may have received a new patch as well.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
So according to the article, MOSS will also be adding a new variation for each weapon type?AxelMill wrote:Raiden V will come out next month. English VA.

So it's actually an update that will also "affect" the JP version.Gematsu wrote:In commemoration of the overseas release, Moss is also planning an update to the game that will add English voices, three kinds of main weapons, and other adjustments.
Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
Do you think it will be the same price as other Moss games digitally eg around £19.99 or full price?. Is it Microsoft that sets the price?.

Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
The new weapons+English VA/text patch is already out. Much faster than expected!
For now at least, there is no Japanese VA in the game at all, only English (quality of it is mediocre, but not terrible). As for the text, there aren't any in-game options to switch between languages. Instead it's based on the console's region/language setting.
It also feels like medal absorption activates about a second faster than before, though this might have been changed with the previous patch.
Need more time to play around with the new weapons. But the new purple laser at least seems better for taking down regular enemies, though not so much bosses.

The prices are set by the publishers. As for what the price of this one might be, my guess would be no less than $30 and no more than $40.Alfred wrote:Do you think it will be the same price as other Moss games digitally eg around £19.99 or full price?. Is it Microsoft that sets the price?.

Video for those who don't have the game.

Interesting to see the game being fully voiced, now that's a first for a Raiden game.

I can't not enjoy one of the best (shmup) soundtracks of all time.

VA is okay, I guess. Would be better with an Ace Combat-like radio noise filter if you asked me.Furry Fox Jet Pilot wrote:Video for those who don't have the game.

I'm highly doubtful for a number of reasons, but then again at least the ecksbone sold more than like 10 units here.Oniros wrote:That's hella soon. Re: Raiden V for Xbox One in 2015
It won't be released here physically, won't it? Because someone told me it'll be released here digitally on the 11th. I was hoping that isn't the case, because what if a hacker group like the Lizard Squad attacks Xbox Live Arcade or PlayStation Network on Christmas again?

I sorta doubt there'll be a physical release in North America, because these days it's definitely appeared to be a surefire way to lose money.
