I bought a turbografx controller recently that isnt working.
the controller does nothing at all when its plugged in.
I have checked continuity on all the pins on the controller wire and they are all good.
and i know its not my controller port because it also was not working for the guy i bought it from.
Also theres no corrosion or dirty contacts on the pcb or the controller wire.
Ive come to the conclusion that the 74HC157 is probably bad. I checked it and it has vcc and ground signals going to it, but i dont know how to test it any further.
Am i right? is this ic bad or should i look elsewhere?

Re: turbografx controller not working
Since then Ive replaced both controller ics. ive checked for broken or corroded traces. NONE.
I bent tabs on the turbo buttons so they make good contact with the pcb.
I washed and dried the pads.
for all purpouses this should be a working controller now because theres nothing left to do to it but i dont have another turbografx console to test it on.
it has to be in the system itself.
I just bought another controller thats confirmed working so i can test things better. if this one doesnt work its the console.
EDIT: well, that solves the problem. New controller works perfectly.
that first controller is completely dead. Problem solved, sort of.
i guess i have one for parts now.
