Stand Alone Capture Card for VGA?
I have all my consoles hooked up to my XRGB2 Plus and I'd like to record the gameplay, but since its only VGA out, does anyone know of a good stand alone capture card with VGA input?

Well, as so long as it isn't a board that does the odd 256p55 like R-Type arcade, even the discontinued StarTech PEXHDCAP will work. Amazon has it for under $150US usually.
Just please stay far away from the Micomsoft or YUAN 160.5 drivers. Even Micomsoft states on the SC512 driver page that the newest driver does not capture analog RGB properly.

I tried the Avermedia C875 running the VGA to a component transcoder, but it only works some of the time, so its very unpredictable. Not sure if its a problem with the card or the source.

Re: Stand Alone Capture Card for VGA?
Standalone recorders are pretty rare, do you really need something completely standalone? You can try using a VGA-to-HDMI converter and then using a standalone gaming capture device, but for VGA that sort of predates the standalone consumer stuff, so you'd probably be more into pro gear... Something like a Ki Pro will do RGsB VGA, but a Ki Pro costs a few thousand dollars used. Maybe somebody else knows of something standalone that will record VGA, but I think your best choice is either to use a computer or to run a VGA-to-HDMI converter into a standalone HDMI capture device...
I get a feeling like VGA was already obsolete by the time large numbers of consumers cared about recording or streaming their gaming (into the Twitch and YouTube era of things), so that's why most (all?) of the consumer-priced standalone stuff is HDMI, while you'd need to dive into the pro market to get analog RGB in such a device.

for my vga stuff I do use a transcoder (in this case, a xselect-d4). VGA in to VGA and component out. I connect component out to my capture card and voila!
